ADVENTURE TIME!

Take a hyperactive kid who'll slay anything that's evil, a shapeshifting dog who sound a lot like a certain robot, a princess who's half-mad scientist, half-bubble gum, and an evil king with George Takei for a heart who just wants to meet a nice girl so he can settle down and imprison her for all eternity, and what do you have?

Seriously weird crap, that's what. And my current third-favorite show after Futurama and VB.

Oh, and talk about anything else on Cartoon Network (not Adult Swiim) here, too.

I took the liberty of adding Adventure time to the title, lest we get nostalgic spammers posting "it's 12:19!" etc.

It's not my favorite CN original cartoon, but their recent ones have mostly taken time to grow on me; didn't care much for chowder or flapjack at first either, but I've since decided they're both pretty good, in their own way. Still, not anything I go out of my way to watch, like I used to with Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack. Those were the days...

I caught Chowder a while back. Back when I had the luxury of sitting in front of the tv. I thought it was pretty funny and cute. I especially like the VO for Chowder.

Yay! I love Adventure Time! Someone I used to work with works as an assistant producer on the show. Plus its got John Dimaggio of course. I like how Finn is in the most awkward stage of growing up between thinking girls are icky and liking them, how Jake is slightly more mature in that respect but worse in all others. Finn has such a wonderful imagination.

Jon likes to think that its like Calvin and Hobbes where its just a boy and his dog and everything else is is just in Finn's head. Either way its just so charming.

Kryten you just made that song 10 times better for me :laff:

Making up new numbers :flirt:

But really... I think its just about being a child and exploring and growing up a little bit each day. It takes me to the days when I floated around my grandma's pool in swimmies and putting bugs in my nose. That show brings up such great memories.

Plus, you can't beat that voice cast. John, Tom Kenny, Hynden Walch...

Its a little more stylistically complicated than that. Many of the characters are simple but they can become more complex with changes in attitude and facial expression. Finn makes a comment in one episode about a character being a villain and Jake asks if it could be because his face is drawn all "Bulgey and dramatic"  :laff:

Who likes Marcelline the Vampire Queen? Some kid put together a piano arrangement of her song... it gets epic about halfway through...

Anyway update the series was flagged for a second season. Congrats to Joe Game and the rest of the Adventure Time cast =)

Adventure Time has quickly become one of my favorite shows currently on TV, I saw the original one about two years ago and wondered why nobody had picked it up for a series.  I can't wait for next weeks episode where Finn gets turned into a foot (Genius!)

I think Flapjack is probably the funniest show on CN, but I enjoy Adventure Time more because of the stories.

Cartoon Network should just air Flapjack, Chowder, and Adventure Time and nothing else

I miss the old Dexter's Laboratory Season 1, the season after that, the voice over for Dexter seemed different and the everything else just didn't look the same.

I definitely thought the song in "The Late Philip J. Fry" was similar to an Adventure Time song in both the ridiculous lyrics and the way it was animated.

On another note here's Doctor Octoroc's version of the adventure time song. I want to download it but stupid quicktime won't let me so I'm forced to share the link!

I'm a sucker for cartoons, so this show caught my eye when I was flipping channels.  I caught most of an episode, I don't remember the name, but it's the one where they get kicked out of their house by some witch girl or something.  The little I saw was pretty good.  I should check it out some more

EDIT: oh, and that double rainbow clip was badass! :laff:

Dungeon was a really good episode too, I heard a rumor that all the monsters in it are actual DND monsters. So that's pretty hardcore.

The Displacer Beast is pretty funny. He almost knows exactly everything.

My friends are bugging me to watch it. Turns out John DiMaggio voiced for one of the characters (or more, I wouldn't know yet).

So I guess I'll have to check it out. Apparently, it's awesome.

I love this show, except for the censorship Cartoon Network imposes on it. For a show thats supposed to have PG-worthy content in it, the executives sure like to take out any.

For example, according to Possible Word of God (Formspring), in an exact repeat of what happened with two Invader ZIM episodes, CN didn't feel comfortable with Tree Trunks explicitly dying. So an extra shot was crammed in of her "frolicking". Also, in Duke of Nuts, Finn was supposed to proudly exclaim that he and Jake were virgins when he's describing his purity. That didn't happen either.

I wonder if it has to do with the ratings system. I know Cartoon Network is not Viacom while Nickelodeon is, so they would probably have different standards. Nickelodeon once had more lax standards allowing shows like Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern life, so Cartoon Network loosened their for competing shows like Cow and Chicken and to a lesser extent Cartoon Planet. I would say after that era Nickelodeon tightened its belt to be more "family friendly" again and Cartoon Network managed to stay a little more lax... eventually paving the way for Adult Swim.

I was rather confused by that ending. I think I would have liked the show even more had they actualy alluded to her death.

Cartoon Network had a little Adventure Time marathon on yesterday, so I DVRd some of the episodes.  I'm really liking this show.  What I'm not liking, the half hour blocks I recorded (selected in the DVR) seem to have one full episode with two episode halves book ending it.  What is that about?  I thought each episode consisted of two 11 minute stories?  Maybe my DVR is just being silly.  I shall have to try again.

My DVR defaults to recording 10 or so minutes before and after the show.
I had to set it to 2 minutes, for shows that have accurate and tight schedueling.

The second Marceline episode was teh awsome. :D
She is definitly my favorite character.

Adventure Time!

I absolutely love this show.  It kind of looks like someone animated one of my sketchbooks so I feel very much at home watching this show.   Princess Bubblegum is my favorite character, though all of the characters are so lovable I can't think of any I dislike.  (I also love Marceline, Tree Trunks, Finn and LSP.)

The fact that there was no new episode this week is crummier then a big ol' biscuit.

Just rewatched the Me Mow episode.  There's something wonderfully fucked up knowing that character was created by a little kid, and is voiced by one. "Quiet!  Or you die..."

I was perusing the internet one day when I came across multiple suggestions on this one.  I hadn't necessarily planned on watching, but then I did.  I had seen the pilot, as it had been an internet released thing, but after watching all three seasons I utterly enjoyed it.  It's quirky and absurd, and often times just a bit creepy, and I can't help but think that I'd be chasing Adventure Time too if I were in the land of Ooo.  Marceline is one of my favorite characters, but all of her fries are gone.

I was thinking about making a thread for this after I finished, but I'm glad somebody beat me to the punch on this one.  As for that fee we agreed upon earlier; I want your flesh; I'll take it while you're sleeping.

My girlfriend got me into Adventure Time, and I have to say, it's a great show. I think my favourite episode so far is still one of the ones I saw earlier on where the find the frozen business men. They do a great job of setting up a simple conflict, while still keeping things bizarre.
