I swear there was an Aussie TV thread... but I could not find.

Race Relations finale. MEH.

Really had no end, his realisation was a cop out, and the wedding was more shocking than the crucifixion.

Why wouldn't you just go to the general television show test thread..

In most respects, we are.
There are things that other countries do better, but most of them aren't significant.
I'm not saying that out of nationalism, it's just a fact.

One thing we do rather badly, though, is television.

Only good show we ever made (beside the occasional hilarious panel show) was Farscape, and that was really a joint operation; it had more Yanks in it than a Perth brothel.

Yeah true that. But like that, our best comedy tends not to translate overseas... case in point: the American version of Kath & Kim.

And we're all still scared of technology such as the Internet and video games.

You can't blame the content producers too much. Mainstream Australians just have terrible taste when it comes to TV. US TV has been putting out some amazing content over the past 5-10 years (think Sopranos, 6 Feet Under, Lost, Dexter, Weeds, Mad Men, 30 Rock, etc, etc, etc..), but the highest rating US import on Aussie TV is goddamn Two and Half Men. Figure that one out…

Hey, I said The Chaser not the War On Everything. The fact that I linked to an If Life Were a Musical clip is more laziness than anything.

Anyone remember Yasmin's getting married?
and what show they replaced it with?

Heh.

"Thank God You're Here" was probably some of our best work.

And it's funny cause that has nothing to do with writing and we stole the concept! Hooray!

If i try and think of good australian shows, i can't think of anything current (Except some things on ABC, Spicks and Speck, Race Relations [Bar the last ep]) but i can think of a bunch of Kids shows from years back. Anyone remember Ship 2 Shore? I (think I) loved that show!

Are you talking about Thank god you're here or the other one?

Because the show they replaced the other one with was Futurama.

If you'd like to see a really good Australian (well, joint UK/Australian) movie, check out The Proposition. It's a really bleak, awesomely writen Western which, for some reason, no one's heard of. GO SEE IT.

Thank God You're Here: It's a pretty universal theatre warm-up excercise, anyway! It's like disputing who first came up with the idea of squatting over a pit and pooping and then putting that poop on camera and then waving a magic poop wand and watching Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen spring to life.

That thought derailed quicker than usual. :hmpf:

You know what we need? A Matt Groaning style show except it's Australian, and Australian notables would make appearances and do voices.

That would be a not so crap show. Well, if I was involved with it anyway.

Ship to Shore!! I remember that. I couldn't think of how the theme went but as soon as I hear the first bit...hah. Hahaha, look at those kids! Why has nobody mentioned Round the Twist? That was awesome. Also I just looked up this but apparently it was a movie, not a tv show? Last time I saw it I was probably 7 or 8, Ship to Shore reminded me of it somehow..

Just spent the last 30 or so minuets trying to remember a show. I managed to remember and found it.

I only have a vague recollection of it. For some reason I have now remembered Lift-off as well. Makes me think of Sunday mornings at my old house, and Round the Twist would be on then as well. And I'd get out my lego and play with it in front of the TV and then my dad would get up and make us porridge. Dammit, I'm going back in time.

I didn't really watch Ronnie Johns that often. I used to like that German Play School skit or whatever it was they did.. Yeah, that.
