I've been watching some of my favorite episodes, all from Season 8, and I'm loving it. Is Season 8 anyone else's favorite season?

Yup, it's my favourite by a mile. Almost every single episode is outstanding - it's probably the most consistently amazing season of any show that I've ever seen. Amazing to think that they brought out Team America that year, too.

I just finished watching Marjorine and I think I just literally ROFLed. So many great moments. I really like the role of Mr. Stotch this season, he's hysterical. "Well Butters, since you couldn't mine $250 Million we're selling you to Paris Hilton", "Butters, don't jump! Come down and we'll only ground you for 3 weeks. (Butters is being attacked by Trent Boiette, and is screaming) "He has to play7 sometime.".

I love that whole Season. Pure genius.

Yep. Always has been.

There are only 3 episodes that I find average (but not bad) in that season: Goobacks, Cartman's Incredible Gift and Woodland Critter Christmas. Although WCC is pretty good...

I only found Cartman's Incredible Gift to be average. WCC was hysteria, the story was so well done, and the Critters themselves were so funny (Also gross). I found Goobacks to be above average, worthy of a 8.5/10. Anyway, I'm bored soooo.....

I liked the battle with the other psychics. And the fourth wall break with Ms. Crabtree. And a few other parts...

Goobacks is a good episode too. I think it's the origin of "They took our jearbs!"- plus there's a good message at the end. And I chuckle every time I hear the word "gooback". CIG is one of my favorites from that season. Among other reasons, I just like the episodes where Kyle's constantly being pissed off (CIG, the AIDS episode, Pee, etc.).

Well Jewpacabra was just...

It just felt pointless. Filler. But not good or bad. It just kind of exists...

I mean, WTF was up with Kyle at the very end? Emotionless. And it just seemed. BLEH. I dunno. Really bland and just strange. Hm...

The point was to make Cartman Jewish. I'm not sure if it couns as filler seeing as it's shaking up the South Park universe so drastically.

What the hell is wrong with all of you negative cunts? Jewpacabra was stupid and hilarious and dark, just as all good holiday specials should be.

I don't know if Cartman is actually going to remain Jewish but I kinda hope he does.

Yeah I get that, but it just seemed so normal. Like, you'd expect everyone to be like "Shut the fuck up, Cartman." and "As if we're going to believe that for a second." but everyone was just like "Fuck off, Jew."

And Kyle, WTF. I thought he would have flipped. He didn't give a shit.

They need to stop writing the episodes in a week because I didn't even laugh at that episode and it left me wondering what I just watched.

And Kyle, WTF. I thought he would have flipped. He didn't give a shit.

Because he's reached a point of simply not caring at all...by the end of the episode he seems to have just decided that he can't do anything about Cartman being a total idiot and just decides to go with it. At the end of the episode when Cartman says "I'm not lying this time" and Kyle says "I know," he's not saying that he's glad Cartman is Jewish...rather, he's saying that he believes Cartman is so stupid that he'll blindly accept an entire belief system based on something as arbitrary as a dream. In that same conversation, Cartman says "I guess stupid people will just believe what they want to believe" and Kyle says "Yup," mocking Cartman without him realizing. So Kyle isn't actually being supportive at all, you just have to read between the lines. He's mainly just being apathetic...and perhaps even in a bit of shock.

Another theory of mine is that this was simply a late and rather bad April Fool's. I don't know, I have mixed feelings on the ep, but what I find most disappointing is that it didn't entertain me on any level, not with the humor, nor with the 'drama'. Just bland.

Definitely not a joke, but rather the beginning of a story arc. I mean, come on, Cartman becoming Jewish is not even close to the most ridiculous thing Matt and Trey have done with the South Park universe. I mean, there's an entire several-episode story arc where Kenny is trapped inside Cartman's body, for god's sake.

It's not really any different to when they killed off Kenny "for good" in "Kenny Dies".

They're just playing with convention to squeeze some humour out of the show and try to keep it fresh. I doubt they've decided if they'll actually make Cartman revert back to hating the Jews yet, but chances are that they will.

Apparently, Jewpacabra was this season's "banked" episode. (Banked is where half the episode has already been worked on, then they come back to it later and finish it off.) So, I guess that's worth noting...

So this could be the end of the Kyle/Cartman hate relationship?

I just realised, he could rip on Kyle for being ginger, but then again we discovered Cartman is also ginger in 201.

Holy shit, Cartman is a ginger and a Jew.

Butterballs

Doesn't seem very Stan-like... Although he did write that "gay little song" about Hybrids in Season 10...

Loved it. Oddly enough, the Butters/Grandma relationship struck a chord with me, especially his final little speech. My grandmother bullied me in my bathroom only a few months ago and it still hurts to think about... (yeah, I'm serious... :()

You can't just say she bullied you in your bathroom and leave it there. Seriously, what the fuck? What were you and your grandma even doing in the bathroom together? Explain yourself! I don't care how much it hurts to talk about, you don't open a can of worms that much and then just leave it hanging. :p

As you wish... :P

My grandmother is a sociopath who likes to pit people against each other and left her children with serious mental health issues. My father had a serious breakdown and quit practicing law as a result and was in a psychiatric hospital, so she visited and made it evident to everyone she was ashamed of him (nice). I was in my bathroom doing my makeup when she came in and locked the door, and asked "why do you hate me and your papa? Do you want us dead?" out of nowhere and continued interrogating me, and she wouldn't let me out.

It doesn't sound that bad, but it was very reminiscent of another situation where I was bullied by someone with the same personality type, and considering the circumstances and the fact she knew I had crippling depression because of bullying at the time it was just very offensive. She'd pulled stunts like this before with other family members, but it was the first time she'd done it to me.

Yeah... well... oh well. At least I've broken contact with the crazy bitch :P

I thought it was quite a weak episode to be honest - certainly the worst so far this season.

It had some good ideas but it was one of these episodes that they've started doing as of season 11 where they basically take one joke and repeat it over and over and over again because a "running gag" is an excuse for not writing lots of gags.

And I mean... the ending was terrible. It has some shock/WTF humour going for it, but it won't do anything for me on repeat viewings.

Imy: ah, the family sociopath, gotta love 'em.

Definitely not the WORST of the season - that goes to Faith Hilling for me - but far from the strongest. I found myself wondering through half of the episode if matt and trey have been criticized a lot for being bullys themselves. Lol'd at cartman singing about his vajayjay, but when that's the high point, you know it's a weak episode.

wasn't supposed to be in character for stan. They were equating the episode's anti-bullying campaign to the Kony 2012 guy, who, like stan, started out just trying to help, got caught up in his own bullshit, got attacked from all sides for same, and then jerked off on the streets of san diego.

@Gopher: Yes, ahahaha...

Back on point - South Park is so subjective, innit?

For what it's worth (which, on the internet isn't a lot) I liked it. The Anti-Bullying song for me was a high point. Cartman's va-jay-jay bridges had me in stitches (don't judge me lol) and I thought it was in his character (reminded me of AWESOM-O). As for Stan... I don't know. He is known for douche-like behaviour sometimes, but it didn't seem justified? The last song made me cringe, so... not good. Anyway, that's my 2 cents (or 20). (I like brackets today).
