I laugh too easily. Gotta admit though, every TV show-turned movie has odd animation. I don't really understand why there needs to be a Simpson movie though. Its been going on for like 18 years, why now?

I think it's mainly just about length really. There's higher production values and the fact that it's on a whopping great big screen, but in terms of storytelling, a movie is a vastly different creature than a half-hour (minus ads) TV show. They can go further do more... tread on ground previously untrodden... etc etc. Compare any given episode of Star Trek TOS with Star Trek: The Motion Picture, for example. Or to take on the X-FIles reference above, compare a Mythology episode of the series to the 1998 X-Files Movie. Movies from TV shows are often like... 'this is what we were TRYING to do, but couldn't because we're on television'.

Sure, I can understand. Still I find it totally unnessicarry (grr can't spell), for a show that's been on the air since the 80's.
