Ohhh my. I just watched Stuck-on-you, great movie, it hit what Shallow Hal missed. anyway back on topic I saw the trailer for Garfield.
Ohhh my jesus christ help us all, it looks to be even more lame than Cats&Dogs, which was at least kinda funny in a cutesy kinda way.

The trailers I saw when I went to LoTR: RoTK were not great (apart from Harry Potter but I have see it before).
One of the trailers made me want to poke my eyes out with an ice pick.
Why? Oh Why? did they have to make a sequal to the Mask? What mkaes it worse, it seems to be about the child of Jim Carrey's character, who some how has the Masks powers. Even worse than that, the baby looks terribly computer animated (it looks like that dancing baby from Ally McBeal)
So again I ask why?

There's no part of that I don't agree with 100%.  Shame on you, New Line Entertainment!  You can't just coast on the fact that you made LotR, you also have to answer for your sins.  And even worse, the trailer for Mask 2 came after the ad for New Line's awful-looking "The Butterfly Effect", causing me to ponder "Why does New Line hate auidences so much?  When was this decision made?"

I just saw the new Punisher trailer on Upcoming Attractions. It looks pretty damn good. Better than the original, anyway.

Everything is better than the original. So thats not really saying a whole lot. I mean. Dolph L. He stared in "Masters Of The Universe" for christs sakes. (The HE-MAN 80's movie.)

Don, if you want to talk about these kinds of things go to the other thread about remakes.

Anyway, I recently saw the trailer for Eurotrip. It looks so fuckin' hilarious! I can't wait to see this one.

I also saw the trailer for 50 First Dates. It doesn't look like Sandler at his best, but it does look like it can beat out his last couple of movies. It kind of looks like another Groundhog Day.

I saw it when I saw LOTR: ROTK. It looks OK. I'm not sure that they needed to include that "Let the bodies hit the floor" song in there and that robot sounding narrator at the end. Hopfully it's rated R so we can see some hardcore action sequences.

Ps: John Travolta as the villan? I guess the people at Artisan didn't see Battlefield Earth.

Ella Enchanted: "What the hella?"

Jersey Girl: The good news: Jennifer Lopez apparently dies early in the movie.  The bad news: Ben Affleck doesn't.

Havana Nights: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Ella Enchanted is apparently based on a book, but I'm not sure if that had all the martial arts stuff.  The movie is about a hot girl who has to obey any order you give her, so expect lots of perverts.

I went ahead and DL'ed the trailer.
Good Shit! It's got that guy from Deep Blue Sea (which isn't saying much but I thought he was cool. Anyway) and the trailer hits the comic vibe square on it's ass with the whole. "OoohhhH I'm a bad ass dad who's family was killed and now I'm a good guy who believes that 2 wrongs make a right kinda deal". It looks promising and Slurm. Thanks for telling me it was out. I'm looking forward to it. + Jhon Travolta. Well, let's just say I'm not the biggest fan. But he put a decent spin on Battle-field Earth so he should at least hit that level of acting if not more.[Or so I hope.]

P.S.:I know about the remake thread, I just was throwing my personal opinion out there. Which we have decided;...doesn't mean shit. But it really helps to vent sometimes & the net happens to be a perfect place to do that.

Broken Lizard is the film studio that brought us the classic. "Super Troopers." Club Dread doesn't look that promising but on the other hand neither did Super Troopers and look how it turned out. It was at least above-averagely funny.

Ohh and Fishy-Joe. I wasn't being too entirely serious when I said that he did very good in Battlefield Earth. Certainly didn't do justice to the book.

The problem with Club Dread is that it doesn't look original. The 'let's make a funny slasher movie' has been overdone.

When I saw the trailer for "Super Troopers," I thought "man, this movie's going to suck." It looked completely unfunny and horrible. Then, like months later, on word of mouth, a friend of mine made me watch it. Surprisingly, it was really pretty funny. It's grown quite a bit, I think, on DVD. The movie's very "80s style comedy/ the actors are just having fun being themselves."

"Bearfucker! Do you need assistance??"  :evillaugh:

Sorry if this makes me sound stupid, but how can people judge movies by who's starring in it? On what basis do people judge a person's acting ability? I see it all the time. "I hate that movie cause Affleck starred in it." or "Jim Carrey is a shitty actor." The only time I've ever judged acting ability would be at a play or movie in which the people sound as if they're reading cue cards. That and Ben Stein. He can't seem to emote for beans.

I guess I just haven't seen the acting abilities well enough. I usually prefer to judge the story not the actors. Sorry if I put this in the wrong place, but I couldn't read another actor bash without knowing why people think that way.

Now back to your regular scheduled thread.

I didn't know where else to put this.
Kill Bill: Volume II has been pushed back! Instead of its planned Feb. 20 release, it will be released April 16. That's almost 2 months later! I am so pissed off! I can't wait that long!

My Alias season 2 DVD has a trailer of Hidalgo or Hildago with Viggo "The Stubble" Mortensen as a cowboy type horse guy who goes on a horce race in the Sahara or something.
His horse doesn't talk but apparently he's a comedy sidekick.

Saw the "Mask 2" trailer when I went to see RotK about a week ago. A dancing god-powered baby? Please let it be canned. Also saw a trailer for "The Last Samurai", looks like another one of those action films with romance and 'character development' injected in.

Story is important, but it can easily be overshadowed by poor execution (i.e. bad acting). Only with both do you have a good movie.

Re: the story vs. actors discussion:

Could you imagine Burt Reynolds as Indiana Jones?  Or anybody else as Han Solo?  Do you think either movies would have been half as good if Harrison Ford wasn't in them?  Great actors can make up for a non-great script, and great scripts can make up for non-great actors.  And a great director can make up for non-great scripts and actors.

Anyway, the trailers:

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow: Those giant flying robots that shoot lasers are straight out of the ancient-school Superman cartoon.  Also, "that IS cgi, right?"
Miracle: "Not even Kurt Russel could screw this up, right?"
Ella Enchanted: Still, "what the hella?"
The Ladykillers: Intriguing.  Tom Hanks does criminal mastermind does Colonel Sanders, Marlon Wayans gets slapped around.  What's not to be intrigued by?

The Day After Tomorrow:
Disaster movie, there's a really cool shot of two guys trekking in what looks like the Arctic tundra but then it pans around them 180 degrees and they're walking up to a huge city semi buried in snow.
