Well fuck, that's the worst news so far by a long shot. I'm not really interested in Community episodes without Troy.

Oh well, at least this means there's more Childish Gambino coming. A new album would be a nice gift.

Would you say that is Gambino behaviour Josh...? :flirt:

Wait, shit I said that wrong...

That blows, I'm not interested in his rap whatever, do the thing I like you and know you for actor-guy!

I just don't see how this show can still be good without two of its main characters

Pierce wasn't as upsetting but Abed without Troy is gonna be rough. However Troy's role in season 4 was so underwhelming I'm not surprised.

Agreed. It didn't build to anything and the break-up episode, while providing for some good sitcom action and jokes, was embarrassing for Troy. Plus, as a non-shipper, all we needed was to see Troy have a thing with Shirley and Britta have a thing with Pierce and then all of their crushing and sexing would be interlocked. :puke:

As for the news, it really makes me sad. Just when I thought it would be a return to the normal (sans Chevy), Donald drops out. I can't say I blame him for wanting to move away from an unstable show and expand his music career, but I still don't appreciate the move. I've seen Donald in Community, listened to him in the DVD commentaries, listened to his rap, and watched his stand-up, and I have to say that the only arena where I like him is when he is acting as Troy.

I think he's a pretty good rapper, and there's a lot of his stand up that I really enjoy. I don't blame him for doing this, considering the show's been put on hiatus twice, have gone through major staff changes, lost another cast member, and has had the episode numbers reduced for the past two seasons. I kind of hope they make this last run the end and hopefully it will live on in syndication

Yeah I've read that this upcoming season will be the last. I think Donald Glover is hilarious and would prefer he focus on his acting but he's allowed to do whatever. I've heard his album and I thought it was good, but a lot of that just comes from the fact that I like the guy not that I know anything about rap.

I think his album Camp is fantastic, and I'm hardly at all into any rap. It may have helped that I knew him from Community first as far as getting into it goes, but even if I didn't know Donald Glover otherwise I'd still like it. His lyrics can be insightful, but mostly they're just hilariously clever...filled with silly puns and pop culture references. He does a lot of sarcastic macho talk that parodies other rappers but then also has some real down to earth sensitive stuff. And the grooves behind his raps are usually pretty good.

Heh, I read raps as rapes. That's probably not funny.

Aw, Troy is my favourite character along with Abed. If there's most likely only one season left in the show, why couldn't he just do the whole thing and then get on with his personal projects? Poor Community, what have they done to you...

Still, Captain Mal + Mike = Almost makes up for the lack of Troy. :)

I wish Nathan Fillion would just replace Troy. With no explanation. Troy is suddenly as old as Jeff and a big white dude.

For all those who aren't aware, Dan Harmon's animated series "Rick and Morty" premieres on Adult Swim next week. The pilot is currently online for viewing here. :)

I just watched the pilot a few hours ago. It was in the C+/B- range. My favorite bit was with the cockroaches that were shooting at them and Rick convinced Morty that they were just robots.

"Oh god Glen's bleeding to death, call his wife and children!!!"

Hahahahaha. Poor Glen. :nono:

The animation outside of everything but the human characters is pretty cool.

Why does it feel like forever since I last saw Community? Yay, January is soon!

While Jezzem was here I realised I haven't watched Community nearly often enough because he kept quoting it and I couldn't picture what he was quoting at all. I need to have a marathon. I wish I had more than just season 1 on dvd :hmpf: I have season 2 and half of 3 on the laptop but I want the real, more legal versions :shifty:

I'm wondering if Donald would do more episodes as Troy if Community got to season 6.. and a movie.
Also, has it been confirmed he's just appearing in the first few episodes, or will he appear sporadically?

I think 5 episodes, he posted somewhere, twitter maybe, this image on Instagram, that he need some personal time away from acting.

The note suggests that, unlike some article I read a few months ago, he's leaving the show permanently. At least that's how I interpret it.
If they wrote him out, I hope it was through some thought out storyline, unlike the way they treated Chevy's character in season 4.
As has been mentioned in this thread previously, Community will miss the Troy and Abed interaction a lot, however I do fully support Donald's decision to do what's best for him.

I really hope they don't bag on season 4 too much, because while it certainly wasn't as good as seasons 1-3, I didn't think it was that bad at all...in fact I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think it's a bit egotistical and unbecoming of Dan Harmon to act like the show completely stunk without him.

Dan Harmon acknowledges that he is creatively brilliant and a massive tool at the same time. It's frustrating to listen to his podcast sometimes.

I hate how a bunch of "fans" of the show trashed the puppet episode sight unseen by saying how low the show has sunken to do that, even though there was a claymation episode in the second season
