Well, at least I didn't think singing all the time was stereotypical of american teenagers.

No..the stuff around the singing...that's stereotypical of American TV shows and any soap opera..

Last night I was at a fundraiser across the road and she had one of the cable music channels on in the background, and at one point they had Rehab from the first episode as a video clip. I didn't know they were putting them out as music clips now? I know the songs are available on itunes and everything but...I don't know. It was weird.

I have not watched this show, but I have heard the casts version of one of my all time favorite queen songs, and I must say it was killer.

Yay I can't wait for the new Glee on Tuesday and the good thing for us people in the UK we get to watch new episodes a week after the USA shows them.

Also I am going to buy Season 1 part 1 on DVD tomorrow

I don't watch this show too regularly, but one of my close friends is a huge fan, so today we watched Tuesday's episode online. The storyline itself was a bit, um, cliched and whatever, but there were some really funny moments ("Dolphins are just gay sharks") and the musical numbers were most assuredly awesome.

My friend then proceeded to show me the version of "Don't Rain on My Parade" from last season's finale, and I nearly died. Absolutely amazing.

And I've heard the cover of "Somebody to Love", Pitt--equally amazing. The cast is just as talented as advertised.

It's still season 1 for me and I haven't been watching every episode on my cable network. Perhaps I'll download it or something :p

I agree. I haven't seen a few eps before the Madonna one, so I have no idea about this Jessie kid, but they played Sue's version of Vogue on the radio last week and were teasing the straight male presenter to watch it on tv that night to see if he would like it. Anyway, I decided to watch it and I wasn't expecting to see them re-make the actual video clip. That was cute. I love Kurt.

I haven't been concentrating on her that much (also I haven't been watching Glee for a while). I have an aversion to snobby blonde female teenagers that causes me to ignore them, even if they're just playing a character on a TV show...

Glee/gaga episode was really good and everybody makes a good match: Rachel and Shelby, Kurt and Finn, Puck and Fin.

Rachel's and Shelby's Pockerface is well better than Gaga herself.

Sorry to bring this up again, now that the season is finished. But I have to agree that the Glee Pokerface version is sooo much better that the original.

Plus I wanted to ask if anyone here went/will go (think it runs till end of July, but I'm not sure) to see the live show? I tried to get tickets as I would have been State side but not a chance.

For all Gleeks who haven't seen it yet I would recommend Mamma Mia!, the film (and musical for that matter).

Having watched the Britney Spears episode last night, I can say that the only appeal Glee has to me is that it reminds me of music I haven't listened to in a while and that I would rather be listening to that than these covers. As such, Britney Spears hasn't aged well, I mean wow her music sucks when I listen to it again. But then again I was but a CHILD when she was popular.

And while this is redundant for me to say, this show would be nothing if it's storyline revolved around actual high school students. The most realistic scene in this episode to me was when the gay kid got in a fight with the teacher and was sent to the principle's office. But my hatred is merely guided at Rachel, I have never met anyone like her in real life. I hate her! Such a controlling bitch I wouldn't deal with her. And as such with real life, none of the spirit assemblies that I've seen at my high school were sexy-awesome to a point where the fat girl and jew-fro kid orgasmed.

Who told you it was supposed to be real life?

All the people in this show are really talented singers, so in that regard it is kind of alright. Besides, who doesn't want to see a bunch of jail bate dancing around in next to nothing. I have no objections. It is an ok show, with amazing singers.

No one said it was supposed to be real life, I was just saying that many shows that have a high school setting often over exaggerate the setting and the kinds of people. This is one of them by far, but since the focus of the show is the music, it doesn't really matter if it's realistic or not. Just judging this show once you remove the music makes its very C-/D+ material.

I like it for the music, although I really wasn't fussed on the Britney Spears songs..except the remaking of Hit Me Baby One More Time made me laugh because I remember when that song first came out and the big fuss everyone made about her. I also enjoy the one-liners from Brittany. And Sue. And other stuff makes me laugh. I think the whole point for these shows is something lighthearted at the end of the day, with over-dramatised crap thrown in to point out how stupid a lot of the arguments people have in the real world are. At least, that's how I see it, but I've always thought arguments people have were hilarious and pointless so I guess you take what you want from it.

So I just watched the Glee-ified "Time Warp" dance for their upcoming Rocky Horror episode. First off, having Kurt play Riff-Raff was genius, he nailed the part (heh it's funny cause it's all about sex). Everyone else it was either predictable or unnoticeable, "Let's cast the kid in the wheelchair as Dr. Scott, cause he's in a wheelchair! Someone give me 25,000 dollars!"

No I kid, it was an alright rendition. For some reason Rachel's (who was Janet) voice gets really loud and obnoxious at the end, I guess because she's the 'star' soloist so she has to have her voice heard in every group song -even though she's Janet who along with Brad shouldn't have even been singing the song!- That was my #1 gripe: Brad and Janet don't sing the Time Warp. And no this preview was just of the song, so there wasn't an explanation as to why they were singing and why there were two Magentas and two Colombias.

Now when I heard about this episode, my initial thought was, "Oh crap now a bunch of posers are gonna start thinking it's cool to like Rocky Horror and it's going to go mainstream :puke:.: Ok well Rocky Horror is pretty mainstream, I mean you, me, and your grandma knows what it is. And even though I do think it's gonna bring in a bunch of obnoxious fans (those same fans who think Twilight is the shiznit), I still want to watch the episode because I do love Rocky Horror. I know that the Glee fans are gonna like it and that the RHPS fans are gonna hate it for essentially the reason I said and that it's really hard to do the show justice. It's gonna piss people off, but after watching the preview I'm less worried than I was. Overall the performance was OK.

And I know I sound like a broken record but in the end it just made me want to listen to the actual soundtrack.

It is Mercedes voice.  I'm not sure how her voice can be confused with Rachel's, they are very different.

Spacedal - I believe that they are putting on the show for students to watch.  I don't know if you have seen/been in any HS performances but in large numbers, EVERY body is in them, regardless of if they had actually sang the song in the original.

I really think it was stupid to cast Mercedes as Frank.  I think Santana would have rocked it.

Hmm I guess Rachel was just who I happened to be watching when that part came on. And yes Slackit you are right about HS performances, I guess I am jealous in knowing that my high school will never ever ever put on Rocky Horror (but with good reason, the plot makes no damn sense). Still when Brad and Janet sing along in 'Time Warp' that is gonna bug the crap out of fans of RHS. And any alteration that Glee will do is gonna make the fans hate it even more. Like the double Magentas and Columbias and when Tina sang her part of Columbia's solo out of sync.
