And suck they do. I've seen them on tv often enough to recognize them now. They've already ruined the Simpsons for me, seeing them in Star Wars would be terrible. I'm so glad they got cut from the movie.

I dunno, the SNL skit from the Josh Hartnet night was pretty darn funny.  "To save the universe from falling into eternal night, we have only one solution.  We must let N'Sync rock out."

OK, say what you will about the title, this movie is looking seriously badass, especially judging from these commercials

I have to admit, Mace Windu has a REALLY corny line (10,000 Nixorbucks to the person who guesses it), Padme (Is she queen, senator, or both now?) has a slightly corny line, and Anakin strikes me as arrogant, whiny, and annoying, which I guess is a good thing.  But his saying "Obi-One" instead of "Obi-Wan" is definitely a bad thing.

I like the title. Look at the other titles: The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi...what isn't cheesy about THOSE titles? The answer is because we are used to them. In another year Attack of the Clones will become so fitting of a name that you won't think of Ep 2 as anything else.

Padme is a senator know, someone else has been "elected" queen.

The quote:
"Ordering eh, who does he think he is?"
"I'm your King!"
"Well I didn't vote for you!"
Really seems to have actual revelence on Naboo

[Add: From the trailers I also thought Ani was very arrogant and cocky, but then he is about to become one of the most evilist men in the entire galaxy ever. Honestly though, I think that to make Anikin like that is good character development considering.

Good job resurrecting this thread. I was thinking about doing it but I am lazy.

I enjoy these commercials very much. The "real" trailers were ok, but didn't really excite me beyond the novelty of seeing new footage. But the commercials are edited together really well...focusing in on specific characters was a good move. They really get me pumped up for the movie. My god, Jango is so fucking cool. And the clone troopers...*orgasms*.

I actually like Padme's semi-cheesy line("I call it agressive negotiations&quot ;). She delivers it well, and with sexiness. Her dramatic acting makes me squirm in my seat, but at least I can count on her to be cool in the fast, witty Lucas-style action scenes.

So far the nerdy internet reviews have been good, too. That surprises me...after all the hatred towards The Phantom Menace, I figured people wouldn't even give Attack of the Clones a chance. Check out Ain't It Cool News. Or this one: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/sneak/clones.html

Watch out for spoilers though. The fool pretty much gives away the entire movie, but oh well. It's a cool review if you don't mind ruining the plot.

I'm so sick of hearing about this movie!  It's not even out yet!  It's going to be so funny when everybody walks out of the cinema after watching it, and listening to them whine about how crap it was!  Jar Jar Binks, people, JAR JAR BINKS!

This movie actually looks like it may, in fact, not suck.

I mean, sure, corny lines... but was there ever a shortage of those in the trilogy?

I would have paid to see Harry squeal like a little girl on viewing AOTC.  :laff:

Sure, you can whine and whinge all you want over some 60 second trailers, but frankly I don't give a fuck. I'm gonna be there on opening night and I'm going to damn well enjoy it. There's too much cynicism around these days about most things without 30-year-old internet nerds dissing a movie that is only meant to be a bit of fun, not a religion.

Lucas has listened to the feed back from episode one. Twenty mins of Jar-Jar action has been cut from the second film, it has been made alot darker and bleaker. Lucas was shocked at the response from Phantom Menace and felt he had let his fans down. It could be as bad as the last one, but I didn't go into see the Phantom Menace knowing it would be good. I went to see it with anticipation in my heart but knowing that I would form an opinion about it after I had seen it. Too many people formed opinions of Phantom Menace before they saw the thing, that is why people were SO let down, I only fell a short distance.
The trailers (both theatrical and TV) mostly look good. Some of them even raised the hairs on my forearms.

Some of the dialogue seems to be slightly cheesy so far but apart from that the action looks stunning.

There is the battle sequence at the end in the arena which is "supposed to blast Gladiator out of the water" but that made me think "uh-oh they're trying to be somethingelse" Bad sign - plot evolves around an idea of Gladiator-esque combat rather than the other way round which in my mind is what it should be. We'll have to see though. I hope to be suprised. I think/hope this will be a good film but I'm not deliberately setting my standards anywhere really.

I am a nerd who has followed episode II spoilers since the very beginning of production. 20 minutes of Jar Jar weren't "cut" from the film. Even in the shooting script, he only has a couple scenes.

And I agree with Nix...I don't care how brutal their deaths are, I don't want to see N'Sync in Star Wars. I can handle a lot of lameness--I sat through the Ewok movies, I sat through the CGI Jabba, I sat through Jar Jar. But dear god, please not N'Sync. My poor innocent little eyes just wouldn't be able to take it.
