Eloise does know about the other universe. I'm interested in how she came upon it.

Eloise probably knows about the alternate timeline for the same reason she appeared in Desmond's freaky living flashback in Flashes Before Your Eyes and knew what was happening to him and told him to break up with Penny because it's his destiny to go to the island. What is that reason? BECAUSE SHE'S A WITCH! She turned me into a newt!

By the way, I absolutely love that Daniel got to be a musician in this timeline instead of a scientist...he got what he really wanted. Clearly Eloise had something to do with that too, because she was the one in the original timeline who told him to abandon music and stick with science. Eloise told Desmond that he got what he really wanted in this life, so she must have allowed Daniel to get what he always really wanted in his.

Quote
Didn't they meet in a stadium the first time?

No, they didn't. Desmond and Penny met in the original timeline at the abbey right after Desmond got fired from being a monk. He was helping her load stuff into her car.
There is a scene later where he runs into her at the stadium, after he had been released from the army and Widmore told him to stay away from her. After Desmond finishes running the stadium seats, he goes back to his car to find Penny waiting for him, where he tells her he's going to do that boat race around the world.

Crazy stuff.. I just bought the season 5 dvds yesterday, and I'm watching the first episode now..it keeps taking me a while to remember what was happening, so much has gone on since then!

Dan sez: "Time - it's like a street, all right? We can move forward on that street, we can move in reverse, but we cannot ever create a new street. If we try to do anything different, we will fail every time. Whatever happened, happened."

..So how come we have alternate timelines

I think most buildings near the street would give way to creating a new one when they're hydrogen bombed.

OOOHHHH...what

That episode didn't do much for me other than it was nice to see Libby and Michael again..otherwise kind of predictable. Interesting Jack mentioned Juliet since I just finished re-watching season 5 yesterday. Season 5 was really flurking awesome, I have to say. Everybody Loves Hugo...very filler-ish.

Seriously? Filler? No wai. Death, Libby, Flocke getting hit by a car! And they're getting pretty bloody open about how connected the two 'verses are.

Didn't you see that coming?

Normally when I predict something in this show if feels more...yay. That tied end seemed kind of... too obvious. And seeing Michael was a bit random. Like they're trying to get as many old characters back for a cameo before the world collapses in on itself. Even the acting for it was kind of "So..the whispers..that's you dead guys stuck here?"
"yeah man, totally >_> "
"It can be whatever you want, let's just give an answer!"

I'm feeling very judgemental today. Must be all that procrastination I shouldn't be doing.

Good episode, Des was cool in that, I lol'd when he put on his sunglasses after seeing Libby and Hurley make out on the beach, CSI Miami style, YEAHHHHHHHH!!!

Then he's all not afraid, then Locke throws him down the well, but he's like "Wait til I get you in the alt-timeline baldy fucker: *HIT'N RUN'd!!*
Oh snap.

[semi ironic]Well.. at least now it should be clear who is the bad guy.. nobody dares to hurt Desmond! You will pay for this smokey![/semi-ironic]

The well part was quite predictible...  the final not.. but maybe [personal theory] ... is Desmond trying to get Locke to hospital so Jack can make him walk again?[/personal theory]

My thought was that Desmond must be more informed about the alternate timeline now and somehow knows that the passengers of Oceanic 815 are connected with this alternate timeline, and is on a mission to get each one to have a flash of their alternate timeline life by any means possible. He pushed Hurley to pursue Libby, and I assumed he hit Locke with his car to try to get him to have a flash (since coming close to death seems to be one way to have a flash).

Also, Desmond better not be dead in the original timeline. The well didn't seem THAT deep, and it sounded like there was water at the bottom, possibly enough to support his fall. :\

"So..the whispers..that's you dead guys stuck here?"
"yeah man, totally >_> "
"It can be whatever you want, let's just give an answer!"

Actually, I agree with you here, that answer did seem kind of forced and awkwardly executed. However, I'm still very glad they gave an answer for it at all, and though the way they revealed it wasn't perfect, it's still an answer I'm willing to accept. It doesn't explain why the whispers seemed to happen whenever the Others were around, but you know...oh well.

soooo... does anyone else think that Flocke can only feed on people who fear him in some way? Or are emotional? He has to be surrounded by these types of people. Desmond clearly didn't today - and bam, down the well you go. Is that why he told Claire that Kate stole the baby so that she had someone to hate for some years? Is that why he killed Mr Eko because he showed no fear or remorse when confronted with smokey?

Anyone else love that the next award for Hurley was going to be from The Human Fund? :laff: Also... reference to Bizarro world? Awesome. Yay. Hee.

Also Ilana's death was the most gratoitous in the entire series..

Flocke took Desmond to the well clearly to throwing him down... and suposedly for a reason, he should been able to kill Desmond right away.. but no.. he throw him in ... maybe smokey cant kill Desmond and the only way of neutralizing Desmond is throwing him into that magnetic anomality well.. its clear that Desmond is somehow related to them

Oh.. and in the alt-future-or-else time line there seems to be only one Hospital in the entire world aparently.. with only one floor and one doctor.

Alt Desmond ran over Alt Locke so he'd have a flash to the real timeline. It's not about trying to get him to see Alt Jack, it's not about him knowing about MIB. It's all about the other timeline. It's all he seems to care about anymore.

My theory on the well: so MIB basically told Desmond, "Yo dawg, this well has some serious shit going down with it. Like magnetic and temporal anomalies and shit." Why would the writers hammer in something THAT WE ALREADY KNOW? We didn't forget the last well we saw, the one with the wheel that Linus turned at the end of Season 4 and Locke fell down during Season 5. Yeah, we kinda remember that there's some serious temporal shit going on down there. So why hammer this in? Because the next episode's going to deal with it. Desmond went down the temporal well. Or, to use Alice in Wonderland analogies (as they have the entire series), he went down the rabbit's hole. What kind of temporal craziness have we been seeing a lot of lately? An alternate timeline. Put two and two together, and Real Desmond's going to end up in the alternate timeline.

And even if there is a bottom to the well and he doesn't just end up in the other timeline, Locke survived a much higher fall. Twice. And a plane crash. And Desmond's survived a lot. He's not dead.

Ninaka, I totally agree with you about Flocke needing people to be emotional around him.  That is what the devil(ish things) feed off of.

Idk how religious any of you are, but in Christian faith (which this show must have something to do with) people who accept life, have faith in what is meant to be and trust in a "higher power" dont really need to fear the evil because God will guide them on their way.  I think thats exactly why desmond didnt fear flocke or anything going on.  He knows that in either time line he is gonna be with penny, he has her love, he has faith in that future, so why fear it?  I almost think thats the point where jack is too.

Pslam 23:4 says:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.  --- 4 and 23 are both some of the numbers

On the other hand, if he died SCREW YOU FLOCKE YOU SUCK.  I miss season 2/3 Locke. :(

also, I love richard, so much.  But since his episode he has gone all crazy pants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any1else, I think you are wrong about Michael being random.  I think they needed a ghost and it HAD to be him.

See, the ghosts clearly know more about what is going on then the alive people.  Richards wife was all like "you must stop the man in black" in a spanish accent.  Michael didnt say that.  He didnt try to keep hurley away from flocke.  I think those people who committed horrible acts on the island are stuck there, and stuck in the evil that is MIB.

Like the good people are there to help and support jacob (richards wife), there must be baddies who have to support MIB.  Michael is stuck there, and feels as though he deserves it because of what he did.  All the time talking to hurley he seemed guilty and unsure.  I think the "spirit" of MIB forces michael to continue to do evil.  All he told hurley was that he was sorry, and try not to die.  If he was there to help, really help, why wouldnt he give him more information on what to do?  Why not warn him in some way.  He sounded like he was sorry for what he was doing right that second, but had no choice.  "Dont worry about helping me" because by freeing MIB, the "evil" spirits (whether actually evil or forced into it) would be free.

And richard is wrong about jacob.  Jacob has been telling hurley tons of things to do.

Is Desmond Jewish? Is Flocke Borat? Duh duh duuuuh!...

I was quite surprised when Desmond got thrown down there, I don't know why considering. Hoping for me to come of it. Also trying to figure out how Hurley and Libby where both at the same mental hospital in the past. That's been bugging me for years. Wasn't fully explained, but hoping it will be...

So, I have a question.  Its pretty clear not everything will be answered.

Are you okay with that?  Or will that bother you?  Could it ruin the "ride" for you.

I mean, theres still dones to learn about all the dharma websites they had, and walt being all psychic.  They dont have time to get to it all, but will that ruin the series for you?

I really don't think I'll know the answer to that question until the series is finished and I see how they end it. Whether or not I'm okay with certain things not being answered will hinge completely on how satisfactory the ending ends up being.

Also, I really hope they answer the Walt thing, I think they very possibly will.

I like that things are still crazy and I still have no idea what will happen next. This shows fucks with you right until the end!...

That guy just appeared from nowhere, he uh, who is that guy? He said help me, right? Help me with what? Hey, maybe that bearded guy is that smoke dude in Locke. Who knows?

Oh, one other thing, what was that talking bird all about? Mysterious stuff, huh.
