Didn't one of the writers back during season 2, or something, say that everything would be explained in a way that was logical/non-supernatural. It seems like they've quietly jettisoned that idea.
Perhaps the MiB has some SuperHerpes (evil) and Jacob is keeping him from spreading it all over the world? Although the long life thing is still supernatural.

I'm pretty suspicious about MiB having quite obviously not been given a name yet. They name drop "Jacob" a hundred times... it's got to mean something when they do reveal his name, right??

I loved this episode. It was the best flashback since The Constant (I miss Daniel and Desmond), one of the three best Season 6 episodes thus far with The Substitute and Dr. Linus. It now makes sense why they couldn't have gone into Richard's story before this point without confusing/spoiling. I saw some things coming, like him being a slave and Isabella being MiB, but I didn't see Hurley talking to dead Isabella coming. This really makes me wondering what Hurley'll do next, as he now seems to be the frontrunner of the Candidates.
Which reminds me: are the Candidates' numbers their ranks or do they have no meaning? Considering their numbers are the Numbers, I feel like they have meaning, but I'm surprised only 6 remain and those don't include Richard (Jacob's longtime representative), Ben, Ellie, or Whidmore. If they are ranks, I'm very interested in finding out who was #1.
I had thought about this before, but now it's obvious that the Island is the cap to Hell now. The electromagnetic activity at the Swan and Orchid? Energy from Hell escaping. Or it's the cap to a parallel universe, one only accessible from this junction, and the energy was the attraction of the mass of the parallel universe escaping. In the Hell scenario, Jacob is an angel who guards the cap and MiB is a fallen angel or possibly a tortured soul attempted to get off the Island "return home", wherever that is. In the parallel universe scenario, MiB is Flash-Sideways Universe's version of Jacob, who can't leave the Island because further blending of the two universes will tear the fabric of space-time or some crazy science fiction mumbo jumbo. If this is true, it explains why he hasn't been called his name yet. It would also explain why he said "Jacob took my body".
Or Hurley's still at the mental institution and this is all be in his head, which explains why he hasn't died, why he can see and talk to dead people who dead far from where he is (Charlie) and/or long before he alive (Isabella) when others can't (especially Miles), why's candidate #8 (the highest remaining, supposedly), and why the Numbers are everywhere and everybody's intertwined so perfectly. Or it could be the former answer but still all in Hurley's mind.

The Island does move in space. It's explained in "316" by Eloise when they're all at the Lamp Post station. She says that the Island moves through space, so the pendulum and calculations are used to determine its probable location at a certain time. Here's the image of the floor: As can be seen on the left side of the image, there are quite a few markings over a location in the central Atlantic Ocean off the Floridian coast. I'd say it's about where Bermuda lies. This is the likely location the Island was at when the Black Rock crashed there. The Island sometime appearing near Bermuda could be the Lost explanation of the Bermuda Triangle affect, especially since the Island would then move to another location, which seems to usually be in the Pacific, far from where the apparent crash site is and where salvage ships would look.

Aww, I completely forgot Jin and Sun had a daughter. Heh. DESY! Also, what's this about Kate not being on the list 'anymore'? Hmmmm. I thought they would only be crossed out if they were dead. But also he could have been lying. Yay, Desmond!

Kewl, Mikhal and Keamy, thugs of the alt timeline! Them and Sawyer & Miles should get their own spinoff cop show. Poor Jin and Sun can't get a break. I think I realised who the skeletons in the cave are, Rose and Bernard, right, they went back to 1977 and managed to sneak off away from all the action? Has that been guessed already? If so, awww.

You know what I thought was great? A few episodes back when a bunch of people were near where all the dead losties were, and Miles was like "Why would I want a bribe when there were 2 people here buried alive with diamonds." That was awesome Miles, even connecting back the worst characters ever. (Other than Towelie) Also, with the skeletons Jack found a black and white stone on them, in freaking season 1!

ok, I was reading a little on lostpedia on Adam and Eve, and they said this about some anagram Rose and Bernard are planning to stay on the island. The beads signify their races: one black, one white.
Also, the producers promised an anagram in the episode NOT IN PORTLAND as a clue to that mystery. "Only fools are enslaved by time and space" (of the room 23 video) can be re-arranged to form the phrase: "bones of Nadlers may lay lost deep in cave". weird Also apparently the word "cork" as it relates to the island is very important. That it stops the evil from seeping out. Think about Hurley's numbers. Those numbers "seeped" out into the real world and eventually got to Hurley - and we know how much that has sucked for him. If that is just a little taste of the "evil" MIB can do... yikes.

Ninaka, where are you reading? I wanna see.
http://community.livejournal.com/lost_tv/I particularly like the after-episode discussion posts where people try and put theories together. ----- Hah. It only hit me when they were dragging Jin into the kitchen fridge where they were. I'm all OMG IVE SEEN THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS... yeah, awesome... Keamy's alive! He's so deliciously evil. I dunno why, but I like his talk.

That was awesome. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're meant to pick up on those obvious things (such as the 'not Penny's boat') unless that was the first episode you ever watched for some stupid reason. It is kind of lame that they seem to be connected to the other timeline by love, but at the same time it does make sense somehow. Wiminz are a strong force. Charlie, Daniel and Desmond Laughy bit: Sayid: BAM WHACK come with me Des: Aye!

uhhhh AWESOME EPISODE! I was like when Dan showed up. DAN!!! This whole line was kinda cool, what with the whole Whidmore family making an appearance. I'm a little concerned that Des has gone back to his crazy brain jumping again...

okay....
So with Charlie being all crazy... notice how whenever he tries to kill himself (incl. Desmond) he can't?? Something always stops him? THE ISLAND WONT LET YOU DIE. Familiar?
Dawwww Charlie & Claire AND Daniel & Charlotte (by reference) AND Desmond & Penny? Loved this episode. Everyone was kinda fitting together.... and...
NOT PENNY'S BOAT, everyone. Don't forget it.
So... Des is in a reality where Eloise is like an all knowing being, and it's another alt-reality... well, it's like Real Time vs Imaginary Time (not alternate universe)
Love how the side-flashes happen where whenever someone comes near to death they see themselves in the other "reality" where they're with the person they're meant to be with... creeeeeepy awesome!
Also, Penny... uh if you're working out alone in an empty stadium and someone comes up into your space and suspiciously knows your name, why would you not run away?! Yeah okay, let's meet up for coffee random stranger who's making googly eyes at me.
Anyway, we love Des. That's just universal.
Did anyone laugh at the way Charlie was running down the hospital stairs? It was so funny watching him be so speedy in a hospital gown. Funny face like a toddler... "eeee downstairs fasterrrr!" face heh

Dawwww Charlie & Claire AND Daniel & Charlotte (by reference) AND Desmond & Penny? Loved this episode. Everyone was kinda fitting together.... and... That's basically how it works for everybody in Sidewaysiverse. They aren't influenced by Jacob, they never go to the Island, they fulfill their dreams. Well, for the most part (Sun, Jin, Sawyer, Kate). Sure, Jack is divorced, but he got the family he always wanted.
Eloise does know about the other universe. I'm interested in how she came upon it. I think the Claire image for Charlie was just him coming to near death, but Desmond's flash of Penny was him being unstuck in time again (like The Constant) and he was seeing the "real" universe. The MRI machine flashes are the same. The EMP machine in the "real" universe that was used on Desmond affected him with electromagnetic waves that unstuck him in time again, but this time to an alternate timeline instead of the past. And this time his "real" self is not in the driver's seat but is just along for the ride. He sees what's going on, but can't do much. His alternate self momentarily became out of it when "real" Desmond jumps into his body, as well as when he jumped out (he passed out in the stadium). I think somehow that the alternate universe has to become a casualty to allow the existence of the "real" universe to be maintained. Or it could be the other way around. One has to die. Also, Penny... uh if you're working out alone in an empty stadium and someone comes up into your space and suspiciously knows your name, why would you not run away?! Yeah okay, let's meet up for coffee random stranger who's making googly eyes at me. Didn't they meet in a stadium the first time? And maybe Penny say the other timeline too? There seems to be some sort of déjà vu-like realization by the characters when they meet somebody in the alternate universe, like a wave from the "real" universe telling them they know them.
