Very sad to hear that, but 92 is a good innings I guess. :(

Without trying to sound insensitive, as that is not my intention, but I always did have a lot of trouble pinpointing Clive Dunn's actual age. :p

Is this thread only for TV and movie celebrities? If so, sorry.

But just had to point out, Dave Brubeck died today. Even if you've never heard of him, you've most certainly heard his most famous song.

Now you can finally take five, Mr. Brubeck! Rest in peace.

96? Wow, that's a respectable age for a surgeon general to die. But if he had died at 80 or younger, we would not be commenting on it now, because this forum would not exist. Okay, I'll shut up now.

that's a terrible shame, though the odds had really been stacked against him :(
It was just this morning that I was reading another report, detailing how his cancer had returned and how that he had to "scale back" his reviews, so this development seems quite sudden.

I used to really enjoy Siskel & Ebert's TV show.  Where I live they would play it at 11:00 PM on Sunday night.  Back in the day before widespread cable TV it was one of the only good things to watch on Sunday night.  RIP, sir.

Really? Time to sing the song that I sang about Ronald Reagan's death ...

DING DONG! THE WITCH IS DEAD by The Wizard of Oz Cast
Munchkins
Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

So for balance the BBC asked a former trade unionist from a former mining town in County Durham what he felt with Maggie Thatcher dead. Needless to say he was quite happy The Great Destroyer, who Destroyed Whole Lives and who Destroyed Whole Communities was dead. He even mentioned a woman he knew, local lass, also affected by The Great Destroyer, who Destroyed Whole Lives and who Destroyed Whole Communities; she had a bottle of champaign, on ice, specifically to be opened when Maggie Thatcher was dead. After all, she was The Great Destroyer, who Destroyed Whole Lives and who Destroyed Whole Communities.
As he kept saying.

So it strikes me - hatred is perfectly justifiable, and take away a community's primary reason for being, and what exactly is left, but the way it was conveyed... she closed down the pits 30 years ago, left power 20 years ago, has been in terminal mental decline for the last 10 years, and now she's finally dead. Ta-da! So, what are you going to do now?
Seems to me that in her death she has caused these people a final injustice, by taking away the one thing they had to look forward to...

Sorry that's probably a post for the politics and/or rant thread...
