Why use hard work when you can work hard to create the illusion of hard work?

BrainSluggo, did you just use the words "South Park" and "innocent" in the same sentence?

In "South Park," it's a time-and-labor saver that doesn't affect the intended look (and in fact may make it easier for some to watch). But just wait until they make the $300 million megaflick "Gumby and Pokey Have Risen From The Grave" in CGI made to look exactly like the original spotty claymation. It'll be only slightly less pointless than "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within."

I occasionally use "virginal maiden" and "throbbing wanker" in the same sentence, too. Also, "butt" and "plug" turn up together uncomfortably often. (Oddly enough, "compassionate" and "conservative," when read consecutively, make me vomit with raucous laughter.) Why?

Hmm. Southpark used to be funny. I found it amusing at frist because it was left of center and original. Now all the ideas have kinda dried up. I did enjoy the movie, though.

In Futurama Zoidy *says* he fertilized the caviar. In South Park, we would have seen him doing it. That's the big difference, it's called subtlety.

Yes, but ze subtlety, she iz alzo sub-ject-teeve. "Futurama" has regular amputations and semi-regular decapitations ("I'm okay!&quot ;), sexual shinanigans left and right, and the occasional belch, fart, turd or intestine gag. There's nothing wrong with that, but surely even on network TV there are things more subtle than that. It is the difference between apples and oranges. Both taste good, but either one can sting your eyes with their squirting juices.

------------------

From Francis Ford Coppola's remake, Plan IX From OuterSpace:

BrainSluggo: "You see! You see! Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!"
Nixorbo: "That's all I'm taking from you!" (Decks him.)
Tweek (as played by Al Gore): "Get back, you fool! You foolish fool!"
[-mArc-]: "God help us...in the Future."

Regular amputations?  When was the last one since "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" or "Why Must I Be a Crust . . ." (whichever came last)?

Okay, better subtlety example. Futurama has done a few eps about going down sewers without ever feeling the need to show a single turd on screen. South Park gives us a family of singing dancing Mersey trout, one with a "hilarious" peanut embedded in its head.

Eggs-ack-lee! One, she ees feelthy, the othair, feelthier. Vive le difference! Ah merde.

My apples-oranges thingie was weak and sad. I should've said something like: "Apples and oranges are both delicious, healthy snacks, but apples give me "The Sh-ts," and cats hate orange peels. This is no fault of either fruit; it's just the way things are. I don't HATE apples; I don't think they are "bad;" I just can't eat 'em without farberflumparooning all over the poor toilet." ...yeah, that works better.

In less than four full seasons, even two is pretty often, this side of ER. Also, I'm inclined to include the open body-cavity shots of Fry and Zoidy ("Parasites" and "Roswell&quot ;). Perhaps I should've said "revolting open wounds" or something. Jesus, you can see Fry's halved individual organs, it's spewkey.

"Mersey trout?!?" I don't know what that means, exactly, but it makes me giggle. "South Park"s Mr. Mackey called 'em "mookie stinks."

Mersey: the foul polluted river that runs through Liverpool

Trout: A common freshwater fish

Hence "Mersey trout"

What about in "I dated a Robot" Fry had his hands bitten off and then made some wanking joke when he got his new hands.

Futurama is by far my favorite show but south park cums in second, although I’ve missed most of the last 2 seasons.
A lot of the recent south park episodes have been crap but some are good like the one where cartman tricks some kid into eating his parents.
I don’t really see why so many people hate south park, there are far more annoying things that deserve your hatred like MITM and about a million sitcum clones and reality shows, those are the real enemy.

Eh, whattaya gonna do. Just my opinion, of course, but I think when someone says "South Park" is all crap jokes or lacks subtlety, they really mean "it's a bit over-the-top in the gross-out department for my tastes." And that's fine. That's exactly why I watch it, but it's not for everyone, no more than "Futurama" is for dried-up old bats who hate everything but Judge Judy (cough). Different strokes for different folks--which is what I wrote way back when a couple of brain-balls came firing at me with their electric tentacles...  :)

Priest: (to Wall of Prophecy) "We will read things off you and do them."
Worshippers: "We're dumb."
(Now Who's Subtle?)

I was watching the south park ep fingerbang the other day and it had this wierd bit where some guy said he would some release a new strain of antrax on America, this was made well before the September 11th.
Makes you wonder if matt and trey have some links with Bin Laden.

Not aimed at anyone, just an anecdote:
My local newspaper TV critic is a pompous fat jerk who constantly refers to himself as "we" ("We think The Simpsons is better than ever!!"), seems to love animation, but neglected Futurama in favor of Family Guy.

He was totally into South Park--I mean, he almost got on his knees and worshipped Cartman--right up to the point Parker & Stone pulled the infamous April Fools' Gag. He had been making serious predictions about the outcome of the cliffhanger--"I'm sure it's Uncle Jimbo!! I'd bet money on it!!"--and publicly s*** his pants when he realized he made a fool of himself. Ever since, he has never passed up a chance to tell everyone the show is "so over" and "all dried up." And every time I read it I laugh, because he still watches but pees on it in a desperate attempt to cover his shame--all over a minor event we'd have forgotten about if he didn't keep reminding us.

(*The April Fools' Gag, for those who don't watch, was the switcheroo they pulled when airing the second half of a two-part cliffhanger about the identity of Cartman's dad. Instead of the second half--scheduled for April 1st--they deliberately ran an unrelated episode featuring Terrance & Phillip and none of the regular cast, with a title card reading "APRIL FOOLS." [They ran the second part the following week.] Can you believe this?--THEY GOT DEATH THREATS. Please. Anyone who could read a calendar should've seen it coming. They parodied the ridiculous backlash in a later T&P-related episode.)

P.S. The show's ratings have gone up twenty percent since Kenny "disappeared"/remained dead. They have since whacked another character, as a last-second, no-warning throwaway gag.
