Does anyone else watch this, or is it just me and (probably) a bunch of gay guys? It's hard to miss, sandwiched between My Name is Earl and The Office.

Not if you watch My Name is Earl and The Office online, buddy. I don't watch it, but I do stare at Selma Blair when it's on. She's nice to look at.

The English said that about the American Office, too.

I haven't seen your upside-down version, but this one suits me fine.

That being said, I like the British Office better too.

I find, in general, when Americans take a TV show to convert it to their own... it has to be dumbed down beyond recognition.

...South Park?

I've heard nothing but bad reviews, so it's interesting that Mr. Muff likes it. I'd assume that the cringe factor of our Kath and Kim wouldn't translate. Then again, it ran out of steam after the third season, so maybe there's something to be said for dumbing it down.

Interestingly, we showed it to my Italian rellies who had no prior experience of Australia, and they found it funny.

The US makes awesome TV, Australian free-to-air networks just don't show it.  For the most part they just pick the lamest, lowest-common-denominator shit to broadcast here during prime time and either leave the good stuff to rot at 11:30 at night, or just shelve it altogether.

Then they wonder why we have one of the highest percentage of bittorrenters per capita in the world. Australian TV is a complete joke.

True. Shelved, or not on at all. Although, without foxtel, I wouldn't know the joys of reality TV executed brilliantly (see: Project Runway), or the lesser joys of total trash like Shear Genius, and that other new one with all of the douche bag interior designers. Or that G's to Gents show.

Untrue! Project Runway is awesome!!!

And Heidi's legs just go for miles..... *swoon*

Thirded on all the good shows being on at 11:00 + later.

Did you guys ever see that Cave Men show? That was random.. yet lightly entertaining. Anyway... late night tv is my friend since that's when I get home from work. Ah, how I'll miss you.

What the hell??? US tv is a complete joke! People will spend millions of dollars on a recycled idea (family guy). They will pay to have it aired on prime time, have comps and amazing ads to go with it, and about 10% of people that watch it will see it for what it really is, shit family guy

The only reason aussie Kath & Kim wasn't put on american tv was because it was thought americans wouldn't 'get' it.
We have to learn your stupid customs, now americans should learn our stupid customs!

For the record, project runway is stupid.

Dang, that Selma whats-her-face is hot! Almost hot enough to make me sit through an entire episode of the show. But then I see Molly Shannon and then I feel shame.

Sorry, maybe I'm not giving the show enough of a chance. But Molly Shannon really brings down anything she is in. Let me know if they have an all-hot-girl episode.

I don't get people thinking Selma Blair is hot, I dunno if it's cause she always seems slightly retarded (in a non-sexy way).

I watched like 5 minutes of this show once while waiting for the next show to come on. It was pretty terrible. I'm surprised MMF likes it. Sorta reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. When is it canceled?

Oh, come now Ben. Surely you of all people should know better than to buy into x.Bianca.x's level of hyperbole and overstatement. Just because you can supply a long list of well known programs off the top of your head that seem to support her argument doesn't mean that, if they really tried, someone somewhere couldn't come up with at least one counter-example to disprove her contention.

What, in Australia? It just got picked up for a full season in the US.

It seems to be a totally negative reaction from Aussies (and select others)...  I never saw the original version, so I don't have something to compare it to... but I think that's not a bad thing. Of course, I also missed the pilot to the American series, so maybe that was awful. Who knows.

Anyway, Fishy, why must you hate on Molly Shannon?

I'm amused that I've come to defend this show... it's not my favorite, but Thursdays on NBC are pretty much the only night of decent comedy on the major networks. Even there, The Office has really gone downhill... :(

Shh! The first two seasons are great, heathen child. It just got way, way overplayed. Glenn Robbins is my personal god.

Selma Blair creeps me out. I think it goes back to cruel intentions, but I guess if you were to pick a brunette actress in that vein I'd prefer Parker Posey. Although, Parker Posey is just plain rad. And a bit nuts.

Great Australian TV? Uhm... Frontline.

Muff: It's not in line with your usual pickings. Adhere to the notion I have of you, or suffer the consequences! Ps: Watch Arrested Development already, or I won't love you.

Ah! Thankyou! She always plays (plays?? maybe not, who knows) the "slightly retarded" roles and that really shits me. Is it supposed to be her niche?? How eye-rollingly delicious.

I'm gonna have to go with Jeff too, Molly Shannon is the devil. I hate her so much. I was just distracted by Selma Blair and forgot to mention.

Molly Shannon always plays those lightly retarded characters, too, now that I think about it. Or she only has one character. Just one is 50 and one is a school girl. Same character. Now she's wearing the same outfits as the "I'm 50!" lady, just she has a retarded daughter, too.

I kinda feel like barfing just thinking about her, honestly.

There's not much but there have been some (ie. VERY few) good shows created here. Kath and Kim is NOT one of them. The fact that virtually its entire appeal was the whole "satire of Australian suburban life" factor, I fail to see how it could possibly translate to any other culture, not that I care to find out.
