the Tale of Despereaux is good, but only if you don't ever think about the book while watching it

It got a smart review in Empire, and does look good.
Meanwhile, seeing as it's 31st December, here are my top-10 movies of the year:
1) Iron Man 2) The Dark Knight 3) WALL-E 4) Cloverfield 5) In Bruges 6) Taken 7) Zack & Miri Make A Porno 8) Hancock 9) Kung Fu Panda 10) Step Brothers

Zack and Miri Make a Porno There's not much I can say about this other than "great job", "fantastic", and "funny" that wouldn't sound dirty. A-
Yes Man This was one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a while. It seems that Jim Carrey is back in his comedy groove after some failed outings. Actually, I'll say that this is his best overall since Eternal Sunshine. Sure, it was a lot like Liar, but this was a lot more "adult" to Liar's "family". I liked the overall message of this better than Liar's and found it more enjoyable than both Liar and the next movie I have to review. B+
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Wonderful performances by Taraji Henson and Brad Pitt. Henson should definitely at least a Oscar nom for this, or even win. Pitt, however, shouldn't win; the character felt a little one dimensional, nothing like the comparable Forrest Gump. At least Gump transformed himself and learned; Benjamin didn't change at all. To that end, the writers shouldn't be nominated at all. I would've liked a more Gump feel from the movie, referencing more events of the time. And, seriously, why move the setting from Baltimore to New Orleans? Just to have the Katrina factor? Three hours + not fantastic writing = not as enjoyable as Yes. B-
