Edit, how disappointing is the box office? Marley & Me and Bedtime Stories beating Benjamin Button? srsly people, be less stupid.

I don't undersand what makes this stupid. The fact that the holiday season brings in more kids to the box office than anyone definitely certifies that movies like Marley & Me and Bedtime Stories is going to outweight a serious movie like BB.

And Marley & Me was totally worth it too! I'll take a dying old dog over an dying baby Pitt any day!

Started the day on Kung Fu Panda it was rather good, and the panda wasn't the worst character and the tigress wasn't the best in my opinion.

Leon, was brilliant. Disturbing odd and felt a lot like Taxi Driver.

Just finished Magnolia. It was freaking weird, but I liked the freaky, weird part. And it could have been a bit shorter I think. But still, weird and fascinating.

JCVD
Jean Claude Van Damme's version of My Name is Bruce!
He plays himself as a down and out actor with money and family problems caught up in the middle of a Post Office heist.
If you're looking for a whole film of high knee kicks then the opening sequence is most of what you're going to get, the story is not driven by his actions but shows him more of a bystander. Some of the events shown are similar to his actual life and it's funny at times and he even has a moving soliloquy near the end.

Shot in an unusual (I can't think of any films like it off hand) Sepia tone with plenty of bloom style gives it a gritty flashbacky feel which was cool.

Steven Seagals turn!

I liked Marisa Tomei's boobies and Mickey Rourke. I'd like to hear Ralph and Nurdbot's opinions on this movie.

Commando

Rewatched today - this movie is really bad yet very very fun at the same time. 3 guys dying in the 1st 5 minutes, each with their own horribly cheesy death, Arnold falling 100 feet with no injuries whatsoever, a hilariously bad shootout at the end, and a fat skintight-leather, chainmail wearing Australian ex-SpecOps guy getting impaled by a steam pipe. Add Arnold spewing out his hilariously made one-liners and horrible acting from all angles and you have a horrible yet awesome and unintentionally hilarious movie.

(B) - fun factor
(D) - analyzing the movie seriously

EDIT: Another thing about this movie - who the hell had the weird idea of making a reggae-sounding score for an action movie?

But his name is John Matrix... JOHN MATRIX!!

Hamlet 2
Yep you read that title right, Steve Coogan puts on a last school play ever, simultaneously ridiculous and funny, some jokes don't hit as hard as others, but worth it for hearing Jesus say "You got my cell number?" and the musical number "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" :laff:

I think Transporter 2 was better than Transporter 3.

Is it worth seeing at a theatre? or is it better to wait until it's released on DVD? The trailer was one big fight scene, also Natalya Rudakova has a lot of freckles.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno
There's not much I can say about this other than "great job", "fantastic", and "funny" that wouldn't sound dirty.
A-

Yes Man
This was one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a while. It seems that Jim Carrey is back in his comedy groove after some failed outings. Actually, I'll say that this is his best overall since Eternal Sunshine. Sure, it was a lot like Liar, but this was a lot more "adult" to Liar's "family". I liked the overall message of this better than Liar's and found it more enjoyable than both Liar and the next movie I have to review.
B+

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Wonderful performances by Taraji Henson and Brad Pitt. Henson should definitely at least a Oscar nom for this, or even win. Pitt, however, shouldn't win; the character felt a little one dimensional, nothing like the comparable Forrest Gump. At least Gump transformed himself and learned; Benjamin didn't change at all. To that end, the writers shouldn't be nominated at all. I would've liked a more Gump feel from the movie, referencing more events of the time. And, seriously, why move the setting from Baltimore to New Orleans? Just to have the Katrina factor? Three hours + not fantastic writing = not as enjoyable as Yes.

I watched Children of Men again today. Just as good as it ever was. Amazing production values and set design.

I agree about Benjamin Button, it felt like they just could have done more with the runtime, Forrest Gump was shorter, but it felt like more happened.
