lol @ clown and chay :D

rach they're re-releasing it before the oscars, it's got dresses and I think I saw a few pairs of womens shoes and handbags in it.

Also, Audrey Hepburn makes a surprise cameo! :D

(She's sold now guys! *high fives*)

I do like the books though, I don't mind a lack of action in favour of emotions sometimes, and there's some action at least. Hopefully the movie will be worth skipping school for in December.
Pretty much anything short of a root canal is worth skipping school for.

Rach: I haven't seen Dark Knight either. I'll probably rent it at some point. You can watch it with me, instead of Tweek or MMF.

Didn't you just read that it's being re-released, a few extra bucks and 100 times the screen and sound experience!
Damn woman! :p

Anyway, I watched Pineapple Express again, nice!
If I'm not mistaken, James Franco pulls a Scarface impression near the end, lol.

OK, I'll see the Wes Anderson version with Mr.MMF, and then go to VF's with a packet of pop tarts and a copy of Mean Girls just in case we change our mind. Tweek (and Spacedal) will watch from the window as usual.

Does anyone else secretly (not so secretly, I suppose) wish Wes Anderson would direct a Batman movie? It would be super awesome... Jason Schwartzman as Bruce Wayne!

I've watched this 3 or 4 times and I just can't make myself love it. Same with Tropic Thunder. Both are meh to me.

Meh.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Also, I think I'm going to hold out until Batman is directed by Wes Anderson. Best filmography and soundtrack EVER.

Hi gudbjorg :)

Baraka

Nobody has heard of this movie probably, but it was utter destruction. Basically a montage of time-lapse and normal images of different cultures and landscapes across the world. No dialogue or story, just the soundtrack carrying it along. Ridiculous quality of shots.

9.5/10

My boyfriend and I had a conversation over the Twilight fad, considering neither of us have (nor do we intend to) read the books/see the movie.

We pretty much agreed with this answer:

I don't know so much about that...personally I hated Edward, and no not because he was a man.

I do like the books though, I don't mind a lack of action in favour of emotions sometimes, and there's some action at least. Hopefully the movie will be worth skipping school for in December.

Oldboy

A Korean flick about revenge and, uh, other stuff.  Beautiful cinematography combined with a few scoops of violence and some messed up plot points.  If you like shaking your head after a movie, this one will probably do it for you.

Twilight

C

Not much fault of the actors/screenwriters/director/producer, really. The story just stinks in my opinion. The movie is better than the book just because it doesn't take as long to get through. The only reason women like Twilight is because Edward is a gentlemen who truly loves Bella. The story doesn't do enough in the way of action/adventure/fantasy to appeal any further than that, with conflict coming only at the very end. Stephanie Meyer is a terrible author in my opinion. She sure knows how to draft the perfect fantasy man, but then again how many women wouldn't? She doesn't seem to understand male thought processes either. But this isn't the Book Review thread, so I digress...

As far as the movie goes, Bianca, you can't follow the romance quite like you can in the book because you don't know the characters' thoughts on screen. It seems to skip ahead very quickly, kind of like the Order of the Phoenix movie. To their credit though, they stick very closely to the book, adding in parts only necessary to facilitate the story on-screen due to the inherent shortcomings of book-to-film transition.

It really depends what your views are on twilight.
Me and some of my friends are really serious twilight fans, I guarantee in 2 weeks I'll be on this thread saying it was the best movie ever.
If you havent read the book, the reviews will be more 'real' in a way, critisising the movie for what it really is (dissing my own opinion, what has the world come to...)

Im just glad it didnt turn out like eragon, leaving out some of the most important parts of the book and changing it completely, now that was a shit movie.

Overall I dont know why I asked the question, taking all bets, what will I think of the movie :laff:
Also, I hate movie critics, and I dont know why I read the damn things, yes, lets all diss Bianca on her strange taste of movies...

Twilight was a swick movie! Of course, there's a lot in the book I would have liked them to put in, and I don't believe their budget was that tight, but overall I loved it and the DVD will be going straight into my DVD player :)

The story was coherent, and made sense, but the movie was quite poorly directed. There were no ginormous flaws, except for maybe the fact that the two leads were always panting and it made it look like they were getting off. The audience laughed at a lot of points where they should'nt've and didn't laugh when they should. The grade was pretty horrible, incredibly washed out, even the regular people looked like vampires.

Edward is very very pretty, and what's'er name has some nice legs. (even thought it was very brief <:( )

It was entertaining though, the baseball scene was kind of cool I guess.

Dark Night

Overly over-rated. It feels like I'm kinda watching V for Vendetta again for some reason but with Batman in it. Batman's voice sounded like a retard and like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l12Csc_lW0Q ! The joker was the only good thing in this film over all.

Barton Fink
John Turturro is great, John Goodman is great especially at the end (wtf btw).
The Man Who Wasn't There reminds me of this, got a very Hotel California vibe I got from where he was staying.

Needed moar Steve Buscemi and Tony Shaloub.

I somewhat agree with homerjay, still very overrated, and Batman's voice was distractingly deep. I don't remember what I rated DK before, but I'd give it a solid B.
