Ok, this is probably aimed at Australians, as it is an australian tv show.

Otherwise, you may have heard of them-they broke into the APEC summit while trying to do a joke for their tv show.

So does anyone know when theyll be back on tv? i heard about their tour, is that going to be on tv? I dont know why they cant just put repeats back on, its still entertaining.
When is their trial? does anyone out there know?

There show is possibly coming back towards the end of the year. Chris Taylor isn't taking part in the tour cause he's supposed to be writing new material for the show.

I think the court case came and went. No charges.

Yeah, they got off without being charged. In your face, everyone else!

The Chaser is awesome. I especially love the segments when they interview ignorant Americans about world affairs.

Nonsense! By far the best part is whenever they take the mickey out of any given current affairs show. Which is great, çause said shows keep giving them stuff to work with.

I enjoy "If Life Were A Musical", personally.

I wish I'd known about/remembered to watch it when it originally aired. Always liked CNNNN. But they're all on dvd now anyway..

lol, yea
I rekon it was gay that wen they were 'breaking' into today tonight/a current afair, they got in troube so they couldnt do 'what we learned from a current affair this week' anymore.

But I love that ad test drive thing, it cracks me up every time.

Hey, I can finally use this thread again!

The new ep was actually pretty disappointing, except for dumbo diet and make a realistic wish foundation I thought.

The media is always out to get the chasers, especially after the what we learned from a current affairs segment. I'll admit it was a little harsh, but it is just a joke after all.

"What's that? You want to meet Zac Efron? How about this stick?" :laff:

I've seen similar bits on different shows in the past, taking the piss out of make-a-wish. I don't remember what it was from, but some show had a dying kid wish to fuck Geri Halliwell or someone like that. It's been done before. You're right though - they have made an enemy of the mass media, and good on them.

That "Make a Realistic Wish Foundation" skit was really offensive. I wouldn't believe chaser would do that.
The shows off air for two weeks. Some think it should be cancelled for good, but I just think it's skits should be carefully monitored so there's no more skits like that.

Yeah, sure, they should have Miranda Devine and yourself vetting all the skits before they go to air. That'll keep keep everyone happy.

The only thing offensive about The Chaser this week was that it wasn't funny.

I couldn't care less really. The show has always depended upon the element of shock and public embarrassment to deliver its own brand of humor, so it really shouldn't have come as a great surprise to anybody. I can never really understand people's emotional reactions to things - it's like they pounce gleefully on any opportunity to complain and make a fuss.

The television has a handy little "off" button after all.

Yes, yes, and yes. Anybody who takes a ridiculous comedy this seriously is a moron. And anybody who has been watching the show and has been perfectly okay with all the other things the Chaser has taken the piss out of, but not this, is a moron and a hypocrite.

Where's the outpouring of moral indignation when South Park takes on AIDS, disabilities, racism, etc? Nowhere. Because South Park hasn't shown up the government or media significantly in the real world, so they don't get dragged over the coals.

He ought to replace Rove as our international talk-show host.

I remember when he used to get on his high horse...Micallef Tonight barely lasted a year. It was better than Rove. But I always forget channel 9 exists so it's understandable nobody watched it.

They said in their apology statement that it was supposed to be so over the top it wouldnt be taken seriously.
I didn't even notice the skit while I was watching it. And when I was shown it online the next day I didn't see the big fuss. There are worse things to make fun of. But still, people could spend less money on granting wishes for sick kids being well looked after in hospital and spend more time on kids in third world countries who are dying in the streets. Or even just the kids who are dying on our streets. That's the message I got from the skit. Because I think around the box and don't always concentrate when I watch shows.

I thought the second episode was better than the first but the best bit was the make a realistic wish foundation sketch

What? A sick dying kid is a moron? A parent who's lost one of her children is a moron? Kevin Rudd is a moron?

Future Shock, stop being such a fuck stick and take a goddamn joke! And in answer to your question about Kevin Rudd: When he says things like "The Chaser boys should hang their heads in shame" followed by "I didn't actually see it but I had it described to me" then yeah he sounds like a bit of a moron to me.

Also on the make a realistic wish foundation: This is by far not the worst thing The Chaser have done nor is it the first time they or anyone else has made a joke about sick and dying kids.

Oh my god, Future shock, stop being a bloody follower, it's so obvious and annoying

You are like one of those people that follows the big kids around, and whatever they think is cool, you think is cool. Then when they change their opinion, you change your opinion.

I don't want to hear what you think based on other people, I want to hear what you think full stop, to hell what others think of you after that, I say.

I respect people's right to get offended by it and of course it was going to offend people but the whole media shit storm and people getting so outraged was just pathetic! 1) It was a joke! Ordinarily you don't take those things seriously! 2) There are more important things going on right now than what happened on The Chaser's War On Everything this week! (not many things but still) 3) Most of the people jumping on the "That sketch was disgusting" bandwagon didn't even see it!

The other thing that pissed me off was when people were stupid enough to think it was a stunt not a sketch "It turns out they were just actors pretending to be sick kids" (some people actually wrote that) NO FUCKING SHIT!!! It's stupid comments like that that make me think that these people actually don't watch the show at all.
