Chuck

Ploughing my way through this at the moment.

Really like it, i know that some of the geek/nerd/gamer references are a bit off, but most of it's good. It's good cast, can't go wrong with Jayne!

The show has some great cross show references, lots to the OC, grrrr, and a great line about Oceanic flight 815.

I was most satisfied with this line from the 11th ep.

Chuck: "I'm not really a car guy, pretty shiny though..."
Jayne/Casey: "Yeah, she's shiny..."

He, even if that wasn't intentional, it made me happy.

Discuss!?!?

EDIT: Heh, also just noticed, the sound the video conference thing makes when it ends is the ba-bing sound the gameboy would make when you switch it on.

I enjoy Chuck.  Nerds are in this last year.  Hooray for nerds!  good for them, er I mean we nnerds.  I love that he gets all these flashes from the computer program downloaded into his head.  I just wish he'd get promoted in the nerd herd or get to be a full fledged secret agent.  And get right with his blond friend, there.

I like Chuck.  The show would be in my top five if it weren't for Morgan. He can grate on my nerves a bit.

I absolutely adore this show. It's a quirky show that actually involves a more real-life cast of people. Usually shows pick the most "perfect" people, but I love how well it's all put together. However, I will admit it's a longshot for something like that to be real. I sure wish they'd make new episodes already.. I *heart* Chuck...

Season 2 premier.

Whilst the intersect 2 kerploading was convienient for the show, there isn't really any other way they could keep it going. They could've stretched it out over a few more eps though, i though the Kasey having to kill chuck would last longer.

Also, WTF was with the Flight of the Conchords songs in the juice place?

I hate this show.

...and yet, the fact that they are using Falco's Der Kommisar in advertisements for the season 2 premiere makes me want to watch it. I will give it another chance.

why do you hate the show Jeff? It's one of the few sitcommy type shows that I actually like. It's not about doctors (ER), it's not about romance doctors (Grey's), it's not about women acting bitchy/powerful (Housewives, Lipstick Jungle, whatever that other one that got cancelled was called). It's about spys/government conspiracy whatever (okay that's been done), but not in a "let's ruin this show!" way that Alias turned into and not in the "let's start sucking" way that X-files turned into. It's got a lot of heart and is amusing, without having a laugh track. I like it.

Here's why I hate it:

The actor who plays Chuck. He's not a nerd. He's a cool, hip, hollywood phoney-nerd. Nothing angers me more than this new trend of cool people pretending to be nerdy. Like the cool kid who has never read a comic book in his life, but says "oh I saw The Dark Knight on opening night. I am suuuuch a nerd!" to all the girls as they fawn over him.

The shippy factor. The show got way too shippy, way too fast. They were only three of four episodes in, and they already have a "Chuck and Female decide they can't have a relationship even though they really want to, then Chuck gets a girlfriend and Female gets jealous but his relationship doesn't work out with the new girlfriend because he's still secretly in love with Female" episode. This is the kind of garbage that should be saved for season 3, at least.

The lack of Falco. I don't think season one had anything to do with Falco. It looks like they are trying to address this in season two, from what I can see from the promos.

I think that he is good for the role, i think he is kinda nerdy in real life, certainly doesn't hold a candle to any of us, but i think he's got that gangly awkwardness going on. Also, whilst you may not think he is nerdy enough, the show isn't too patronising about it, there's nothing like "I'm going to go play the Halos on my Micrsoft Xbox 300 and 60!". It's mostly accurate.

Also, Jayne, mother fucker! JAYNE!

I think Chuck is the exact type of nerd-cool crossover guy that I would want in real life, so maybe I'm biased. Face it, if they cast a full on Comic Book Guy in that role, it'd be gross and no one would watch it. He'd live at home in his parents' basement, be 35, obese, and have like sweat and pizza stains all over his shirt. He wouldn't make a realistic spy.

Also, it doesn't matter if he's nerdy IRL since he's an actor, Chay. I think Jeff is talking about the actor's look.

I think the nerdiest thing about him is his friends, his interests, and his lack of self confidence. The shippy parts allow for some romance and conflict as you get to root for Chuck to grow a pair and like, be a man. I can agree with it being a little too fast, but we are living in the 00s, Jeff. Kids in 90210 are having blow jobs in the first episodes, so Chuck has got to compete somehow.

2x03 was a really good episode, the stuff at the end with sarah was really sad, I thought. Good use of music, Trying to figure out the song at the end.

The National - Fake Empire
Bon Iver - Skinny Love

Great Tracks.

I thought the intersec update was a good way of keeping it going, it was getting to the point of, "Everything in his head is a year old..."

What makes you think such? Because it's a hit and it makes good sales, which means it's taken away then will be replaced by crappy, crappy reality television?

Totally agree..

a coworker convinced me to start watching it... we began watching it the night shift and its absolute great.. i mean.. its great and east entertainment.. no mega-obscure plots, no mega-archs, just fun and i love it.. its quite pleasant to watch for some reason and its clear its aimed to us internet-freaks of 16-35 year old.

Absolutelly. when i started to watch it .. it was sudden.. one night at work..a co-worker convided us to all watch it wich means of course i had absolutely no idea of the plot or cast.. when Adam appeared in screen i was "Hey! Its Jayne!! cool!". But its actually better than that.. every time Adam appears you know you are going for fun. Same as every time the scene goes for Buy More

Just started watching this show since Battlestar, Scrubs, and Life on Mars all end after next month and I need to find some new TV shows to watch. Definitely hooked early on. It must have been the smoking hot Sarah character or the possiblity of Jayne-ish humor from Adam Baldwin, but I've definitely taken a liking to it after downloading the torrent of the first season.

wow this series is an absolutely wonderfull piece of surprises.. its totally made for us sci.fi geeks.. and whats with the parents!

Awesome's father is Bruce Boxleitner , also known as Captain John Sheridan , main character in Babylon 5

Chuck's father is Scott Bakula, also known as Captain Johnathan Archer , main character of Star Trek Enterprise

Sarah's father is Gary Cole.. also known as Captain Mathew Gideon , main character of Babylon 5: Crusade

and the CIA general Graham is Tony Todd who was the captain of the destroyer Charon in Babylon 5: A call to arms (also a major character of the movie)

Are they recluting starship captains on porpouse? Should i expect Kate Mulgrew, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Will Shatner , Bruce Mcgill , Kenneth Colley. maybe Dennis Lawson .. to appear in the future?

That episode was kinda meh. IGN gave it like. 8.9 or something... but it kinda felt almost like filler after the past few eps. Didn't much care for Jill, and i thought the buy more story line was more compelling... Only thing that was interesting was the end of the ep. NEXT episode should be good.

All round satisfying episode. Could've totally been the entire show's end, save for the last scene. Can't wait for next weeks. Gah!

Yeah... this is no good.. the episode looked totally like they were wrapping things up .. but at least in the worst case they had the oportunity to wrap things.. unless they end in the next episode in a tremendous cliffhanger wich i thing is what will happen.

At least poor Morgan could clear things up with Big Mike... and with one episode left surelly Emmeth may still get his payback..

Its also curious how now that Awesome knows the thruth (not all but Chuck didnt invented any history or possed him as special agent , he told him what he needed to know) Chuck is "presumibly" over with that life..
