Pretty cool new show on AMC, caught the first two episodes last week and saw the third episode tonight.  I think Bryan Cranston is a really good actor and this show does a pretty decent job mixing humor and dark comedy

I've seen this show advertized on AMC a lot.  I never really watched it.   I believe it's a good show.   AMC used to be a channel that shows classic movies from the olden days.  Now it's a channel that shows more recent movies, and now TV Shows.   Ever seen the other AMC show, "Mad Men"?

Why did you even comment?

Anyway, I saw what was the third episode last night; while I had missed the first couple, I may be hooked anyway. There were some pretty intense scenes... I could probably do without the pregnancy angle, though, as I found Walter's venture in the drug trade much more interesting.

Watching the 5th episode now. I really hope they don't move away from the meth storyline. I love the thought of him cooking meth. I think he'll go back to it to get that phat cash to provide for his family. *fingers crossed*

Also, I realized that Bryan Cranston with a mustache and glasses looks a lot like my dad. He probably faked his death and became an actor.    :(

edit:  Yaaaaaaay. Go meth!

Oh, snap!

I still haven't decided whether the sound of a ticking clock that they constantly use is brilliant or annoying.

Someone, I think on #fc (sorry, I forget who and don't have my logs handy) recommended this to me, and it is amazingly. Dark and hilarious, just some really good, addictive TV. Airs on AMC in the US sunday nights, not sure if it's broadcast anywhere else yet.

Stars Bryan Cranston, who played the dad on Malcolm in the Middle, as an overqualified high school chemistry teacher who learns he has terminal lung cancer (despite never having smoked a day in his life) and decides the only way to provide for his family after he's gone is to cook and sell crystal meth. That's just the pilot, everything spirals down-hill from there. It is bleak and twisted and hilarious.

Any other fans?

hm, I would've thought there'd be a thread already. Oh well! I love it. :)
Except for Skylar, his wife. She's always a killjoy with a stern face.
And it was probably me who recommended it Gopher. You are very welcome

teh bump.

Good episodes the last two weeks, though the cold opening teasers are officially getting on my nerves now. From this week's, I loved walt's speach, the tequilla scene, and the ending.

Just a few more episodes this season, it'll be interesting to see where they go with this.

Anyone else think Walts sad quiet dignity sort of reminds them of their dads/grand fathers/elder uncles?

EDIT: The last ten minutes of episode five is the best American TV moment I have seen in years.

I have only seen a few episodes but it is hard for me to catch on tv.  But I also think I have a soft spot for it because that is where I live, and I have served on Bryan Cranston, who I think is one of the great T.V. actors!  It is definitely one of those shows that you have to keep up with though

Walter is going to finally snap from all this guilt. And it will not be pretty.

Also: Gus isn't going to be happy about Hank. Not at all.

One of them could of been Passenger at least. Anyone else thought before the conclusion of Season 2 that the Cartel found Walt?

Hey, remember that bitching music video at the start of episode seven of season two? watch it again here!

nurdy:
they seemed to be implying it so intensely with the cold openings all season of the pool that I was assuming it'd be something unexpected, but I was still assuming his work would follow him home somehow or other.

Well, I got to say with the creepy cold openings I never suspected what actually happened. The most sneaky bit of them is when we saw one of the agents pick up those glasses that made us think that the Cartel had somehow tracked them down.

Also, next to Walt blowing up Tucos safe house the bit with the Tortoise is another epic moment in the show.

You guys read Walts 'blog' by the way?

Just got the Season 2 finale to go now... and I'm nervous for Walt. I've seen the first few minutes and it doesn't seem like it will end well.

Agreed re: the tortoise, Nurdy. But I don't like the fact that they'd rig an innocent tortoise to blow. I mean, I'd hope it was a bad drug dealing tortoise, but something tells me otherwise. What sort of people condemn a tortoise to explode like that?

I'm sure there will be, the show hasn't lost any momentum at all yet and cable networks aren't as quick to pull the plug on shows as some networks who will remain nameless.

Season 3 has indeed been great so far. And yeah, Odenkirk is great in it.  Also, the show has John DeLancie.

Well I searched for the Breaking Bad thread, no luck.

I just watched the end of Season 3, episode 7, "One Minute". Absolutely mind blowing and intense, that was better than the end of a Dexter episode, I actually talked out loud to the screen.

Breaking Bad owns, but fuck his wife, she was ruined the early season 3 episodes.
