Watch Season 1 Episode 1 "Children Of The Gods". Pause the disc at 34 minutes and 11 seconds. Anybody notice what appears to be the ark of the covenant from Raiders of the lost Ark at the back of the Abydos Cartouche Room?

This would actually make sense - if Ra captured a religious artefact he would almost certainly transport it away from Earth and put it on one of his slave worlds as a reminder of his power over the ancient gods of the peoples that he had enslaved.

I think I see the scene you mean, doesn't look exactly like it after a GIS, but I think that was one depiction, well spotted eagle eye!

It's either 2+finale or 1+final, I forget.

Also, merry Christmas:

Some presents just can't wait til xmas morning to be opened. I also like the front zipper, very convenient.

On a random note, what is with that outfit? I know she lives in another galaxy but she comes from contemporary earth, right? Do they have their own mall with fashionable boutiques somewhere on Atlantis, supplied by local Pegasus designers/manufacturers, and I just missed it? Or do people actually dress that way on earth today (outside of scifi conventions) and I have failed to notice that?

Robert Carlyle is better than "moderately well known". At least, in the UK. I suppose Americans only know him as the bad guy from that Bond movie.

Nice to see the wrait get wasted by A-10s though. Even if they did replace to awesome avenger buzzing death noise with that stupid machine gun sound effect.

@Faze: Seriously over the top the first half.

I'm rarely a fan of dream/alternate reality eps where the cast are completely different. But this one was very enjoyable.

Also could not resist watching the final episode that had cut down sfx. Can't wait for the actual final next week. Although it should have been longer.

Todd is the only real badguy left for the movies maybe?

Although he is captured and his feeding hand is neutered, what's he going to do shout harsh language at them for 90 mins?

"Your mother was a simian creature! OHHHOHO BURN!"

Todd could so pull of that "Your Mother" line with ease.

Just about to re watch ep and see what I missed out on sfx wise.

Good episode, although I would have preferred "Vegas" to be the finale...

Also, anyone hear the news that the next SG-1 film will be a Jack O'Neill-centric story? Awesome.

I can't wait much longer for SG: Atlantis, but I'd like to wait until the whole season comes out. In the meantime I'll watch some old stuff.

if it's been covered, sorry, but was thinking earlier and something is bugging me.

Why the hell didn't the Asgard just make themselves nice replicator bodies rather than commit genosuicide? (suigenocide? autogenocide? what's the word here?)

Because the Asgard were probably powerful enough to be a Godlike Saviour in ever episode once they no longer had any of their own problems. Which kills the drama. So the solution was to let the Asgard's own problems overwhelm them to the point of voluntary extinction.

tnuk, nah, "digital ascension" wouldn't change the fact that their numbers were severely diminished, and as frisco said, they could become as aloof and indifferent to the affairs of physical beings as the other (analog?) ascended beings.

Digital ascension would have allowed them to copy themselves as many times as needed. Who wants only one Thor when you can have seven hundred?

I may be the last to know, as usual, but I was quite surprised to hear that Jewel Staite had appeared on Stargate Atlantis prior to the introduction of the character Keller was introduced. As a wraith, which is why I didn't recognize her.

Which wraith, you ask?
