Weeell...so far, I'll say this much; Marsters was probably the best thing about the first episode. That's not to say that it was bad; I think they spent more on cinematography and CGI/whatever, so it looked better. And for the most part, the story was okay; it's just that you kinda wonder if Marsters would be a better lead for the show.

And I do note that they're making quite a lot about the cameos - hopefully, the stories will be good, but I'm not sure that's a good sign. We'll see. :/

I think that's more because they're championing it as a proper crossover rather than a separate-entity spinoff - the good Doctor in an episode or two would cement that.

As far as the episode went, whilst I enjoyed it very much (John Barrowman, oh my yes) it did seem slightly cartoonish in the way it was presented. I'm not sure that that's a bad thing but certainly in Series 1 the really cracking episodes like Cyberwoman were the ones that were darker in subject matter and less obviously camping it up.

We'll see how it goes  :)

Well, episode 2 is right around the corner...

Yeah, it's definitely early days. Though I will say something else about Ep 1; why oh why did they have to start the 'who's sleeping with whom' thing up again? Jack hitting on Gwen, Jack hitting on Ianto  (though those two deserve their own topic for 'Most Unrealistic Relationship'), Owen hitting on Tosh...I realise that TW is the more 'adult' end of the Doctor Who brand, but...ugh. Maybe this year they'll dial the rampant shagging down a few notches. :/

EDIT: Caught the character mix-ups. That's old age catching up, that is... :/

You forgot Jack hitting on Ianto not Owen

Did you see the trailer where Owen told Ianto and Tosh let's all have sex? there could be a steamy scene there. hope there some Jack and Ianto action

Fixed the screw-ups. Whoops.  :)

At the moment, I'm approaching TW with guarded optimism; the trailer for Ep2 looks good, but then again, the trailer for 'Love and Monsters' looked good, and the episode itself was utter dreck. We'll see.

It was ok, more violence, less sex is good for me. But obviously my favourite line was: Lets all have sex" "And I thought the end of the world couldn't get any worse"

Heh heh, yeah; that was a good one. Hopefully, that's the writers sending a signal that they're going to tone down the interoffice humping this season - though based on all the 'flirting' going on in Ep 1, that's probably a vain hope.

Ep 2...

To The Last Man was what I'd describe as a mehpisode. A plot which once established goes absolutely nowhere to the end. Then once it gets to the end it brings out the deus ex machina machine which saves the day and does emotions and that. Then Tosh wanders off disillusioned with the entire human race because of this single experience. Whatever.

The episode was good. The Soldier is so cute and I feel sorry for Tosh. That was a hot Jack/Ianto snog scene ever

I'll say one thing about this week's episode; it was better than last week.

I wish, though, that they'd try not to make the new potential 'couples' so obvious - Jack and Ianto aside (and I still think that's contrived), they're making it painfully clear that Owen is going to pursue Tosh. This episode worked because they put all of that firmly on the backburner, and went with a more traditional mix of sci-fi and creepy. And it worked.

I dunno; if things continue in this vein, I think Torchwood'll be around for some time to come. Let's hope they find the right balance.

Are we talking about the one with Tommy? Was that the new one?

I certainly hope that Tommy being visited by whats-her-face changed him enough so that he didn't get gunned down.

Nah; she's only around for another two episodes after Reset. So I guess that means Owen somehow comes back from the dead by then. Or else they find a new cast member.

'Adam' was possibly the best episode of Torchwood made so far; it had a good story based on a good premise, managed to make good use of the 50 or so minutes that it had, and apart from one extra actor, did it with just the core cast, with a minimum of outside locations, and with no cameos or explosions or latex creations. (By which I mean monsters; get your mind out of the gutter. :P)

'Reset' was pretty good, too; special guest star, yes, but it didn't end up as 'The Martha Show'. Martha became a part of the crew, pure and simple. And yes, a nice big fat cliffhanger as well.

Here's hoping that Torchwood has turned a corner, in terms of stories.

I'm not sure that the repeats mean anything, they are just trying to get a larger audience by showing a child-friendly version as well as the regular version.
