He's been the best stand-in host so far.

"Soon they will be shipping in grapes from Africa. According to this we are advised to look *looks down* look out for the occasional hippo. That joke was weak."  :laff:
I don't think he would make a good host permanantly though... Still hilarious. Maybe I'll record the repeat and taunt you all, like I taunt you with my episode on tape from May. That episode  :p

I saw a HIGNFY DVD for sale today - I think it had highlights from every show! Looks dam good.

HIGNFY needs to stop looking for hosts ... Boris Johnson should get the job.  Not getting the gags, the inane rambling, not realising Paul Merton had got an answer right ... and the coconuts!
Had to be seen to be believed - brilliant. The DVD that's coming out looks really good too, as it's got a commentary by Hislop & Merton (no Angus though ... funny that!)

No, Boris would be a shit host! He's one of those people that'll be funny for a week, and then it'll just get annoying.
However Fridays showing was one of the best, i wouldn't find it funny after a few weeks.

Boris was so cool!

I was expecting him to be good, when he was a guest last year it was hilarious, he seems constantly confused.

He is funny because he is "out of it" but he also made some pretty sharp jokes in my opinion. OK, the novelty would probably wear off, but he's the best temporary host so far.

I dunno if this guy would be good as a host, but he was very funny. I've forgotten his name, he was that comedian with long hair who was on the show the week of Angus's last show and the week after.

Also, Bill Bailey might be decent, although it's likely not to happen as he's on Buzzcocks.

Does any of this stuff have ANY hope of making it to America?

I was reading in the paper today that the producers of HIGNFY still haven't found a host for the next series and so will have a different host every week like now. I think Ricky Gervais would make a good host.

Have I got News for You almost definately won't Kryten, in case you hadnt picked it up it's a satirical news quiz/discussion which often has stories from England. I dont think it would work in America.

If the Americans make their own version, i doubt it would be as funny.

I haven't been following the thread too closely...what do you all think of Trigger Happy TV? They are showing it on Comedy Central. I thought the commercials looked lame, but I caught an episode a few weeks ago and it was funny. And best of all, the sketches were really really short. So even when a gag falls flat, it's not long before they move onto something else. Today's american comedies could learn from this show.

Damn, you!!
Is it good? I've only seen screencaps and it looks really cheap like Dr. Who. *shudders*
I'd like to see it before the movie which WILL be coming out.

Which of the books does it cover?

The first and a bit of the second. It is like Dr. Who, but that doesn't stop it from being funny nor good.

I watched Dead Ringers last night. Was funny. But it doesn't have the same dressing up skills like on Alistair McGowan.

It's probably because it was a radio show beforehand - Tom Baker is brilliant though and it's good to see an impressionist show with decent topical stuff.

Yay, I think Dead Ringers is on again tonight. Great show.

Still keep watching last week's...

Rolf Harris
-G'day! And welcome to another series of "Rolf On Art". You know, a lot of nonsense is talked about Art, and I thought I'd give it a go myself!!!-

Arnie Schwarzeneger is caught in between a battle for the role of super villian between Alan Rickman and Ian McKellan. Ian and Alan kill eachother leaving just Arnie
"Oh no, I need a token British bad guy to save the world from!!!"
Then sees a note on the wall
'In case of token British bad guys killing each other, smash glass...'

Dead Ringers

Dead funny. I could probably quote the whole show!
(although the bit with Saddam and Werther's Original didn't really stand out...)

TLC: A good-ish show, it's the only comedy on at it's time but it's a bit weak.

The new series of Alan Partridge is great, the first few episodes sucked, but it's gotten a lot better.

The fake Bono on it last night was hilarious, he sounded like Daniel O'Donnell (Really rubbish Irish singer who's the real life version of Aoin McLove from Father Ted)

But I loveed Trigger Happy Tv. Shame they only made 2 series. But judging on the Christmas eps, it probably would have turned crap. Dom Jolly writes for the Independent now.

Trigger Happy series 1 was great, series 2 was still good but starting to lose its edge. The Xmas specials last year were to be honest, crap. I am actually glad he decided to round of the show before it got flat (The Simpsons, are you listening??), and he explained his reasons for doing so.

Dead Ringers was hilarious. The Tony Blair planning to ban Bargain Hunt, then David Dickenson talking about how tanning salons would go out of business... hilarious stuff!

Talking of Trigger Happy TV mind you, apparantly for every minute of footage, about 2 hours worth was taken. After the trick they had to get the person to sign a form to say they didn't mind being on TV. Some didn't sign, including a man who was cheating on his girlfriend with another woman at the time  :laff:
Dom Joly still has the tape of outtakes never to be seen on TV. Oh how I want that tape  :D

Not all the time, doofus. I liked the one where they went into a cafe and beat the crap out of each other.

I just saw a program on extreme ironing and extreme vaccuuming! We won the European Extreme Ironing championships. The Germans and the Austrians did crazy stunts, but their tea-towels were too creased to gain points!
