And dogs, where they beat each other up with nun-chuks, potted plants and the like. I actually thought those stunts were the least funny of the lot...

At least we're good at one sport eh!

Harry Enfield is funny.

The League of Gentlemen? That's a grey area. It's hillariously funny at times, and then it's just boring and pathetic. I never got into it too much, but liked it (a bit).

My favourite Brit-coms are:

Fawlty Towers - possibly my favourite TV show of all time

Black Adder - The third and fourth parts in particular

Red Dwarf - Series 3, 4 and 5

Bottom - Pretty much all that I have seen.  Apparently the newer ones aren't that great

Are you being Served? - I have a soft spot for that one.

Mr. Bean - In small doses can be quite funny.

After reviewing the other posts more closely I have to add:

Benny Hill - How could I forget Benny?

Vicar Of Dibley - Anything with Dawn French, like Murder Most Horrid.  Can't stand that Saunders woman though.

I also like Tracey Ullman.  She can do so many characters and they're all different.

Clockwise is excellent, and the train station bit was filmed in Hull!

I liked the first and second seasons of League Of Gentlemen, the last one was a bit weird.

I have the videos of the "Bad News" episodes of "The Comic Strip Presents....."  So good!

w00t!!

Monty Pyton's Flying Circus is re-running on Irish TV on Monday nights!!

  :p

Gotta get me Fawlty Towers and Blackadder on DVD, but is Blackadder season 1 worth getting? I never liked it much.
I reckon it's cheaper to buy them all as a set and not just seasons 2-4?

Have I Got News For You was presented by Charles Kennedy last night. I kept laughing whenever they showed that bowling clip!

will have to watch the HIGNFY rerun tonight - Melllvar's also recommended it.  It will have to go some way to match the legendary Boris Johnson episode the other week.  Worst comedy this year has to be the excruciating TLC, the best is the return of Alan Partridge.

I have watched TLC, but it doesn't really make me laugh as much as other shows.

Be interesting to see who they choose for host next year.  Let's hope to god it's not Johnny 'could I be less funny' Vaughan.  I read a review of the DVD that said Sandi Torsvig almost got the job originally - scary

I don't think they ever will find a host. It is good to see someone different presenting it everyweek.

Melllvar's just told me that his dad thinks the BBC are trying to get Angus back for the next series.  It kinda makes sense, as the reason he was sacked was because he was making the news every week.  There hasn't been anything written about him for weeks now and by the time the show returns, it'll been almost forgotten about.  Todays news, tomorrows chip paper.

I'd love Angus to return. The hosts they've had have been great, but they've mainly been great auto-cue readers (except Boris, he was a shit auto-cue reader, which was so funny!).
The problem is i can see 'Angus' Return to the BBC' and then the whole thing re-starting if they do!

I'd love Angus to return also.  I think Dadbot (and my Dad) may be right.  The whole episode concerning him will have died down to nothing by the time the new series starts.

I'd vote to bring him back.  None of the presenters (apart from maybe Merton) have been much more than a novelty for me.  Although I did enjoy last nights.

I'm hoping Phoenix Nights wins best comedy.  Good thing is, it's live so I'm hopeful for something controversial that can never be shown again.

So many good things about the comedy awards last night:-
Graham Norton & Eddie Izzard taunting Jonathan Ross for not winning (again!)
Angus back so soon
Kathy Burke using up the quota of swearing within the first half hour
Johnny Vegas' rant, which completely stole the thunder from that non entity from My Family
Peter Kay winning the best writer & people's choice awards

only bad thing was Leslie Neilson, who was just a bit odd.

[Zoidberg]I missed it![/Z]  :(

Nuts.
Anyway, I read in The Sun, quite by accident (bloody hell, don't usually read The Sun) that Jeremy Clarkson will host HIGNFY on the 20th. That'll be good just for the novelty.  :D

Johnny Vegas was hilarious! "Enjoy the moment, like coca-cola!" I also found Graham Norton quite funny, especially when he was licking his award and going "Its sooooo goood!". When Angus Deayton came on to present an award, I didn't realise until then how much I missed him presenting HIGNFY!

Johnny Vegas was acting like a Child.  Anyway I didn't like him. I am so happy that Kathy Burke has won an award. I liked her in from gimme gimme gimme.

Jack Dee seemed a bit err, pissed, as did the guy who came up to the stage to collect the Phoenix Nights award. Jack Dee was funny but some people might not have quite seen it that way.

Watching the alternate hosts of HIGNFY makes me realise how hard it is to read an autocue. Merton did a good job but he's funnier ad-libbing, so he;s out. Boris was a good novelty but I doubt he'd make (or be allowed to be) a regular presenter.

Clarkson might be interesting... he needs to be on TV more.

Anyway I hope they do bring back Angus when he stops making the headlines.

The best thing about Angus was the way Merton could so easily take the piss out of him. Good on-screen 'chemistry' I guess.

Jeremy Clarkson should never, ever be on TV again... I hate that man.

And Johnny Vegas is classic. Did anyone see Room 101, where he went on about this chat site called Beauty's Castle? He said he'd once spent about 30 hours on it at once (something like that) and got so into it that he 'installed' Guinness at the bar there. I love his quirky, sometimes self-deprecating humour.

You are so, so wrong I can't even begin to explain... If I ever see him in the street, I'll be running him over.

Nothing about him is funny (apart from his hair).

But, you know, whatever floats your boat.

Maybe its a macho car blokey thing... I love the way he takes the piss out of anything and everything with such ease and poetry. Plus his hair and 90 year old jeans. Whether he makes a good HIGNFY presenter remains to be seen.

And please do explain. Rants are funny.

I borrowed both seasons of Spaced on DVD and I can't seem to stop watching them.  I love all of homages and references.  So good.

Most of the second season refers to how much Tim hates Phantom Menace.
