Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"

Dang, I wish they'd hurry up and put those movies out on DVD.

Azazel, you guys still get most of your movies in english with Norwegian subtitles?  When I was in Oslo I found that interesting.

Yep we get our movies in english with norwegian subtitles. In Norway we start to learn english in school when we are about 10. It is my best subject  :D. Btw, why were you in Norway?

I used to live in Germany for about 4 years.  We took a trip up thru Denmark, Norway and Sweden.  "Return of the Jedi" had just come out and I really wanted to see it, but it wouldn't hit the US bases in Germany for another 6 months.  So I kept trying to get Mom and Dad to let me see it in Oslo, since it was in English.  Never did convince them.

So, was "Raiders of the Lost Ark" correct?

Nice job Torquemada. I just saw that recently, and Kirsten Dunst has really "grown up."   ;) Time's really gone fast when I remember watching that movie in a theater. Next quote...?

Yep, that's the one.  Good movie.  Kirsten does a really good job.  The book is still better, and then the second book "The Vampire Lestat" puts quite a different spin on the same events.

Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith in "The Matrix"

There's one scene in Lord of the Rings where I fully expected Weaving to say "Mister Baggins" like he does in Matrix.

I love that line "Don't tell me there was no crab there, I graduated from Annapolis for Chrisakes!"

Here's the next one:
"And we will charge valiantly, and be butchered valiantly. And afterwards men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will thump their chest and say what a brave charge it was."

I knew a West Point grad about the time that movie came out that could not stop repeating that line.  Of course, there's an ancient rivalry between Annapolis and the Point.

And Tzlk Wins!
Sam Elliot's excellent portrayal of Union Cavalry commander Gen. John Buford.  That has to be the perfect image of the gruff old cavalry officer.  The full quote is:
"Meade will come in slowly, cautiously, new to command... And then, after Lee's army is entrenched behind nice fat rocks, Meade will attack finally, if he can coordinate the army. He'll attack right up that rocky slope, and up that gorgeous field of fire. And we will charge valiantly, and be butchered valiantly. And afterwards men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will thump their chest and say what a brave charge it was. Devin, I've led a soldier's life, and I've never seen anything as brutally clear as this."

Buford's decision to place his two brigades of cavalry dismounted right in front of the advance of most of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia probably saved the Union Grand Army of the Potomac.  If his men hadn't held off Heath's division until the main Union force arrived, it might be a very different country now...

BTW, if you haven't seen Gettysburg, do go rent it!  One of the most historically accurate war movies ever made.  The book it's based on "The Killer Angels" is as much a study of command decision making as it is a novel.  It's required reading for US Army officers.
