I just watched "The Batman" last night, it was pretty decent. The animation is ok but not great, I do like how they're creating different ways of depicting the villains and such. However I as a mild fan prefer TAS for the reasons that everyone has already stated.

Who the hell came up with the Baby Doll character?

And then who the friggin hell decided to use her again in Gotham Knights and team her up with Killer Croc?

Seriously, she's a little girl, and Crocs an idiot, this is the worst episode ever.

No, she's not!  She's a woman with some horrible disease that turned her into a supervillain.

But she is lame, and Croc's a chump.  He was only entertaining when Batman was pretending to be him.

Batman: Gotham Knight (The Animatrix/Clone Wars treatment of Batman), first look: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=FY3IUUr1_Zs

Quote
"What you're going to get from BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT is an animated Batman you've never seen before, both from a storytelling standpoint and a stylistic animation standpoint."

"The idea is that, just like in the comic books, the DC Universe is full of infinite and varied stories, so we shouldn't be locked into one animation style. You will definitely get different visual versions of Batman. There will be a range of looks -- for Bruce and Batman and the different characters."

"We tried not to set up too much for THE DARK KNIGHT [The upcoming, Chris Nolan-directed sequel to BATMAN BEGINS] because it certainly stands on its own, but this is kind of like an added accent to that whole universe. If you've seen BATMAN BEGINS and you've seen THE DARK KNIGHT, this is something that may have happened in between." - Gregory Noveck, DC Comics' senior VP of Creative Affairs

Hmm...I'll withhold judgment until I see the final product.  I'm not usually a fan of Japanimation though.
