I have to agree, its like I can not stop watching it. Its hypnotizing me. Did anyone watch this past weeks episode. It was pretty cool. I do not ever feel like its worse, its just always the same for me when it comes to the Simpsons.

The intro to yesterday's episode was awesome, thanks to Banksy!

The best jokes was "Schrödinger's Bat", the rest of the episode was too predictable and boring.

This last episode depressed me. For one thing, I don't feel like the movie Precious is something that you can make fun of easily. I think that's more just me because that movie breaks my heart and I can't find humor in that situation. Secondly, I love Bart but I don't like how one episode he's a sweet kid with a wicked streak then the next he's an emotionless sociopath. Pick one!

But hey, Paul Rudd was in the episode!

I still buy every DVD box set, even though the episodes are mostly shit, I guess it's habit. I watch them all regardless. I have Seasons 1-13 and I also have Season 20. I haven't seen any new eps beyond Season 21, but anyways I hope this show dies at Season 25 tops. It's expensive keeping on buying these things, and the more they make the more space it's gonna waste...

Hey, did anyone watch The Simpsons two nights ago? Because I sure didn't! (Because I hardly ever watch it anymore.) However, I did just see this article on Comedy Central's website.

http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/2011/03/28/the-simpsons-pays-tribute-to-futurama/

I like to think of it as a "Take that" directed at Fox for dropping Futurama, which is now enjoying great success on another network. [Nelson]Haw-haw![/Nelson]

I've owned seasons 1, 2, 3, 6,7,8 - twice
4 5 9 10 & 12 once
and even though it got wrecked, I still claim season 11 ownership, it got kinda wrecked, so I might own that twice.

I need a third seasons 1 & 2

Right now I have seasons 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8, in as good as new condition. :)

Don't we all? I bought "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" for the sole purpose of running it over with my car.

Not really. But I bet it'd be really satisfying.

No, because then you'd be giving Indiana Jones more money and then you might see it advertised everywhere because of a false sense of demand.

What so much worse about Aliens in Indiana Jones movies than ghosts that kill people, people that rip hearts out, stones that bring famine, cups that bring eternal life and oh wait, weren't there aliens in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis?

The only bad thing about Indy 4 was the wedding ending and Shia, the story was as much out there as the 1st 3 movies and the game.

Oh crud! I take it back then. I'll never do that, ever.

And the use of aliens as a plot point was by far the LEAST ridiculous thing about that movie... although it WAS kind of a cop-out. My problem is with the awful dialogue, the cheesy action sequences, and that friggin' scene with LaBeouf and the monkeys. Good Lord.

Someone needs to tell George Lucas that he forgot how to make good movies. Can it be me?

Pardon me if there is a similar topic on here somewhere, but do any of you feel the same way?

I just can't stand the Simpsons... I do know of a couple of episodes which (to me) were really brilliant, but other than that I think it's a stale series that should have been axed quite a few years ago. I just don't find any of the characters in any way "lovable" enough so that I CARE for them like I do with Futurama's protagonists. And while the writing of a few episodes are wonderful in portraying the average American family in a certain scenario I just don't like the humor of The Simpsons. I do realize that Futurama (as the "little sister series", in a way) has a little bit of that Simpson humor (duh, it's a Groening show :laff:), but usually it's clever.

And, well, Futurama is just cooler. In an amazing setting, the writers have boundless freedom with plotlines and characters, and they make damn good use of it!

Your thoughts/opinions?

Meh. Every long running series turns to shit eventually. Futurama's OK at the moment, but if it goes on for another ten years, it will Simpsonise.

Hardly. The ship flies by, the whole bit is seriously 5 seconds. I generates the same feeling as when you see one of those one-eared bunnies or three-eyed fish from Life in Hell. It's for the fans who get it, and that's it.

Yeah, It's bad now, just a tiny, tiny bit less horrible than about 2-3 years ago.

I can't claim that it's anyone fault in particular, just perhaps one or two certain producers, aka "showrunners".  :shifty:

Herecy! Get the witch-burning torch! :p

I was a big fan of Simpsons, I even got the paperback comic book anthologies when I was younger (well made my parents get it obviously). That's why I started watching Futurama. But then shortly after its creation I found Simpsons less funny. The antics got stale and for a few years it became the week's headline story made into a 22 minute short. If you wanted to do topical satire like that go to SNL . That's why I like Futurama, I can watch it at any time and still find the humor relevant and funny. And it's in space, which makes it 1000 times cooler!

I'm sure if they were to cancel it prematurely to prevent its Simpson demise, us fans would still complain about it :laff: . I just wamt it to be great forever, is that so much to ask?

Never really watched the Simpsons, but did catch the episode with the crayon in Homer's nose once and thought it was brilliant. The other night I saw the Simpsons movie with the spider pig gag.  Am I the only one who thought the entire movie was lame?

The movie was made long after the show turned to total shit, so yes, understandable that you found it lame. I was happy with the movie though as it was better than I expected it to be and much funnier and more entertaining then the current episodes at the time were.

As for the OP, watch the 8th season of the Simpsons and come back and THEN tell me you still think it's stale and unfunny. Since the show is currently in season 21, chances are the majority of episodes you've seen have been after the 12th season or so, when the show became absolute shit. The first 10 seasons were BRILLIANT and I agree that the show at it's peak was far smarter and funnier than any Futurama.

As for what randi said, the Simpsons satire in it's glory days was brilliant and I can still go back and watch certain episodes that were entirely satirical and find them brilliant and hilarious. Often times the episode would satire subjects before anybody else ever did, before they even became big issues. After the show became shit, though, episodes that tried to be satire covered topics that stopped being big issues sometimes even years before the episodes aired (for example, the gay marriage episode), which was stupid and unfunny.

My Season 1 box set bought in September 2001 is still looking almost as good as the day I bought it, and yes it has been watched several times, and I even lent it out to a friend and it's still in good condition. I mean it's not going to start jumping around the room and start damaging itself on its own is it?...

No way, I can’t agree, Futurama was something even after only a few episodes I knew I liked better than even the best Simpsons episodes. Sure The best Simpsons episodes are great, but I’ll always take Futurama’s best over them. It’s all subjective really though isn’t it?...

Since the show is currently in season 21

Currently in Season 22, sad I know...
