G4 & Tech TV

Suprisingly, I havent seen a topic about this awesome channel. One of my favorites.

What's your favorite shows from it? X-Play? Attack of the Show? G4TV.com?

my favorite is x-play. but this channel is turning into spike2 its supposed to be video game tv, but when i turn the channel on all i see is the man show(its realy funny but doesnt belong here), fastlane, and those two annoying whip set shows.

AND they cancled g4tv.com.

and somehow its my favorite channel on tv right now

After the TechTV merger, it was doing good. And then, they crapped up the TechTV shows. Ever since then, I haven't really watched it. It used to be my favorite channel, but now it's, like mcl said, turning into SpikeTV2, or even "Comedy Central without the Comedy Shows but With Some Computer Stuff".

Yeah, it's really sad how they're diverting attention away from the gaming shows.

In just a few days, they'll begin broadcasting their new aquisition, the syndication rights to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now dont get me wrong, I love that show, but it has no place on G4...

Despite all this however, Xplay is still one of the funniest half hours on television.

TechTv was way better before the merger.  In fact, if you want to get technical, I got into the channel when it was zdtv.  AotS is alright, and X-play is still good; the only G4 acquisition I truly like is Icons, which is an interesting show; the rest of the stuff really doesn't grab my attention.  Again if we want to get truly technical, I believe TechTv's prime was several years ago when Kate Botello (I think that's her name) was all over the place.  She was a co-host on screensavers, and then became a co-host on Extended Play.... actually it might still have been GameSpot Tv back then..... Also, whatever happened with Screwed with Martin Sargeant?  That was a funny show too.  Again... I'm really not into G4TV, it pisses me off a lot.... like the sportscasters who kept incessantly talking about how great USC was.... you know... because they can win the Rose Bowl and everything...

Feh.  G4 and their ilk are trendy sellout disgraces to videogame nerds everywhere.

Or maybe I'm just biased because the first and only thing I watched on there was that shity awards show.

Best Boss Battle: Halo 2.  WTF?  It was a regular level on a moving platform. Oooooo, special.

I have G4/TechTV on my cable system, and I have to agree with the majority here. I'm not a huge gaming fan, but I like the culture and the technology. "X-Play" is usually pretty entertaining, even to non-gaming fans, but the rests of the shows I can take or leave.

It seems like the whole station has a really small budget and it shows. Every show is shot in like the same room. They only show replays of X-Play, AotS, and Icons all day, with The Man Show and Fastlane (!?) at night. THere's almost no technological shows. I'm sorry, but watching people play each other in Arena just isn't entertaining. If they had "real" shows, then maybe I'd give them more time.

I loved TechTv. But then Comcast merged it with G4, and now it's SpikeTV 2. Seriously. They're even beginning running Star Trek:TNG on Sunday.

Dammit, I miss Unscrewed with Martin Sergeant, Tech Live, the Screen Savers, Robot Wars...

*sigh* Fuck you, Comcast.
