Well the 2005 movie blockbuster showdown ended ages ago but looking back what was your favourite film of summer 05?

Kung fu hustle and sin city are my preferred choices.

Serenity, gorramit!

Or if that doesn't qualify as a summer film, Sin City.

I'll second Nerdorama's claim of Serenity, that was a mighty fine flick.

"You wanna run this ship!?!?"
"Yeah!"
"Well....you can't"

But out of those I'd say Charlie and the Chocolate factory was the best as far as being entertaining.  Episode III was great, I'm not denying that, but everyone knew what was going to happen and Lucas actually pulled it off which was a nice suprise but I still think Charlie edges it out.

Since "Sin City" isn't really a summer movie, I had to show some love for "Batman Begins." Miles better than the rest of those films.

I'd have to second evan here, "Batman Begins" is by far the best film I've seen at the cinema this year (although I've only seen a few). Still, the film does kick arse.

For me it's a tie between Cinderella Man and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

A lot of these I haven't seen, and either may rent or never see, depending (summer movies usually suck).  I guess the big one I still want to get around to seeing is 40-Year-Old Virgin.

My personal favorite is Revenge of the Sith.  I almost can't believe I'm saying that, but it really stacks up nicely with the original Star Wars trilogy.  Sin City (if that counts, though I don't think it does) was also better then it had any right to be.  War of the Worlds was decent.

I liked Star Wars and War of the Worlds. But I want to see Madagascar, The Wedding Crashers, and the 40 Year-Old Virgin badly. Mr. and Mrs. Smith was good. And I also want to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And Sin City. And maybe Kung Fu Hustle cause I heard it was good.

Also, Sin City and Kung Fu Hustle were definitely NOT summer movies.

The others bring up a good point.  As far as the ones that actually came out between June 21 and September 21, or whenever, Batman Begins.

If I'm still wrong on the date of that, then I guess the whole summer sucked.

Well, being in Aus, these were autumn/winter movies here, but I enjoyed almost all of them. (I haven't seen Wedding Crashers or 40 Year Old Virgin but I'll probably rent them when they come out)
Our Summer best movie will be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire... YAY

Screw the release dates, Sin City's the best film on the poll, so that gets my vote.

Lucky you don't want them ranked. I can't decide which I disliked more out of War of the Worlds and Ep 3.

*squints*
I've seen better.
It's between Charlie and the Chocolate factory (beautiful, fun, great sets with a plot) or Sin City (nice cinematography, general look of film excellent but plot of death).

The plot(s) were ironic. Comic books have silly, derivative plots designed to appeal to losers - so they had to remain faithful to that.

Batman Begins, then Sin City.

Episode III was good, but not as great as Batman or Sin City.

For my summer movie pickings, I liked Star Wars, Charlie, and the Corpse Bride(it was a summer movie to me!). Of the two on the poll, I'd go with Star Wars.

Now that i think about it. Ive overlooked The descent for the poll. It was one hell of a s**t scary film. For any americans wondering how the hell did i miss that? it is for an american release summer 2006 i believe.
