A hand held balistic weapon can re-assess close range and high speed targets more efficiantly than a mounted solid-block weapons array, obviously. Might I also add that the timbewolf can't fight in space like a Gundam can. I can't believe you compared a timberwolf to a Gundam. Grape juice to wine I say! Now the (y)f-19 from macross is more in the timberwolf class, and low and behold it has mounted weapons arrays in addition to weilded ballistics. Did I mention it can transform? Yep. Now come on. Out geek me! Dear ma'am: Whe it come time, you must tell me how you plan to explain this to your grandchildren.

Speli: He's comparing the look of the thing, the American Mech looks more like a machine (Western Style) and the Japanese Mech (A Gundam I note: This makes the argument too complicated because it's made for space warfare not ground) looks more like a Samurai with an auriental touch.
Bah, I always wanted to know what a mech would like if we Brits made one.

Even if Titans is good, I won't watch is because Toonami shows plain crap now. Unless I see the usual Adult Swim cartoons on it.
Bring back CNX dammit.

American mechs? That's cute, Speli. You do know that many of the mecha designs used in Battletech were taken directly from Robotech, don't you? Stop me if any of these look familiar: MBR-04 Tomahawk SDR-04 Phalanx ADR-04 Defender MBR-07 Spartan HWR-00 Destroid Monster (a.k.a. 'Heavy Howard') Zentraedi Glaug Battle Pod

Oh smack! Shoji Kawamori is one hell of a mech designer. I can't think of any of the Macross designs off hand that I don't like. The classic VF-1 Valkyrie is my favorite of all, sleek and functional. The Japanese designed mechs are much better IMO than their American counterparts. As you pointed out, many of the American ones are pilfered from the Japanese anyways, or at the least inspired by them. I tend to prefer the more "realistic" type mech designs like those found in Macross rather than the more fanciful designs of Gundam, etc. I also enjoy some of the designs found in the Ghost In The Shell episodic series. I have a copy of the book "Macross Design Works" by Shoji Kawamori. It's a fine book if you like Macross designs. The book is like a mech orgy.

Scan them man! Scan them!
Call me corny but the SW fan in me loves the AT-ST as my favourite mech thingy.

Originally posted by evan: Xmpel, that looks like it was filmed in my basement. No no, it's just that they made the Gundams in real-scale and not in a miniature format so they had to spend the rest of the budget on making huge boxes. Alas leaving no money left for special effects. It has a great plot though, you can tell because it involves mechas.

Does it have a twisted depressing ending like Eva? If so, I'm in.
