I haven't seen HP nor read the books (I might someday, but I'm currently in the middle of reading Raymond. E. Feists Midkemia-books).
Anyway, I'm definately going to see LOTR. I might even go to see it on 19th Dec. at 00:01 local time.

Oh, and in Finland LOTR got a K15-rating. It's high considering that most other countries gave K11, and it has been discussed at various forums, if it was a right decision or not. One thing is certain: it will greatly reduce the amount of kiddies in the movie theater.       :D

Though the K15 rating might have been given as a precaution. If Two Towers and The Return of The King feature more violence, it is desirable for the whole trilogy to have one rating. At least Return of The King WILL feature some grisly scenes if they have filmed the scene where the orcs branded Sauron's eye on the foreheads of the killed men of Minas Tirith and used catapults to send the heads back to the city's defenders... talk about psychological warfare.

Just seen it, and I don't think they should've cut him either. But I liked the ghost sitting at the back of the class.

I dont hate bender
I saw Harry the other day... and I loved it. When I can be bothered I'll write a proper review... It must have been very difficult to put a book into that one movie, which is why some bits ran too fast for my liking. Overall, the book is better but the movie was still very very good  :)
I give it an A.

Book burning in Mexico.  More specifically, Harry Potter book burning.  Spanish Inquisition feared next.

That's not so breaking news. I had that 5 days ago in my Anti-USA propaganda-newsletters   :p

But as far as I get it, it's some selfproclaimed church not some major one. Best line: "The initiator didn't yet have the time to read the books."

:laff:I can't help but laff at the ignorance. I don't think we've had a book burning since the nazi's when they burnt any non nazi books.
May I just say... idiots.

so we're all agreed it's rubbish then?

saw it in malaysia on VCD and actually left before the end having predicted that stupid mouth's pointlessly displayed chess playing abilities would come in useful later in the movie. reminds me of a certain scene from waynes world - don't know about anyone else.

the kids were allreally annoying and had a problem with acting. maybe i only get how annoying they were because i'm english and i'd like to put a baseball bat to all their faces. "eh but i'm not a wizard i'm just...........harry.....simp er simper"

"is it ............................. ............................. .......dead?" why the long pause girl could you not think of the word ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

read the wizard of earthsea by ursula le guin to find where the whole wizard school bit (most of the film) was ripped from.

and then there was the pod race oh i mean quiddich game where for some reason the men ride around on gay little broomsticks and throw a ball through the hoops. all of this is though rendered pointless if the little ball is caught. SO WHY BOTHER with the hoops??!?!?

the only good thing about harry potter is that it has got kids (and some adults) reading again.

i come to my final point: it is a kids film so if any of you adults seriously consider it to be a good film rather than just a bit of harmless, albeit ripped off, fun then you need to get out and read more.

Uh... no. I have read and enjoyed the first two books. They're not the second coming of Shakespeare, but they're OK.

i think the books are quite ok, i've read all 4.
but the movie sucks. i'll never go to see it, because i have my own images of the characters in my mind, and i want it to stay that way. i think especially with this book, that's important.
but lord of the rings (both books and film) rules.

I liked the movie, but the book was, as always, better. I find the kid who plays Harry annoying somehow, but the little red-haired guy playing Ron is so sweet.
Rach, I was so mad that they cut out Peeves! I think Rik Mayall would be great as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second book.
I think the books are good, and for flexo's benefit, I'm an English student and I've been reading every spare second since I was 3. And I wish to clarify something -
If one considers it a good movie, one should read more? Not watch more movies?
