Futurama and Family Guy

Once I was working as a subsitute teacher a high school in South Carolina, I heard a lot of the students in the class talk about both Futurama and Family Guy.  Everyone seemed to be fans of both shows.  Some liked Family Guy better, some liked Futurama better.  I didn't tell them I was a fan, you know teachers have to set an example that way. 

There was a girl there in a wheelchair, and one kid asked her if she liked Futurama or Family Guy and she replied that she hated both shows because they were 'stupid and immature'. 

Then I wondered.....how in the world could shows like Futurama and even Family Guy be immature?  Futurama's humor is rather intellegent.  And I'll even give Family Guy some credit.  Both shows are far from 'immature'.  One student even told me I looked like Fry!

The problem this girl has is that there's a twig up her ass. Putting yourself above certain types of humor(like those displayed in Family Guy and Futurama) is not maturity like she thinks. It's pure snobbery. There's no way that even the worst of television can be immature because it takes experience to write a TV show. It's hard work, having to go through several rewrites and storyboards and whatnot. The experience you gain through your writing is maturity. The rough draft is the immature spawn, and the final copy is the mature adult.

Also, if you look like Fry, I suggest posting a picture in the pic thread. I'd want to see that.
