All the old Family Guy threads seem to be closed (and the last one ended with an unprovoked flame from TheLampIncident.  Ah, the memories.)

I thought now was a good time to re-open the subject, since FOX (aka 666 aka Those Bastards) is showing an hour's worth of Family Guy tomorrow, including that one Christmas episode and - for the first time on network television - Wish Upon a Weinstein.  And of course, the show returns to production, to be broadcast on Cartoon Network, next March.

Well, we know that the first episode being MADE for Season 4 is called North By North Quahog, although it might not necessarily be the season premiere, since we all know that Family Guy episodes rarely ever air in production order.  tongue

I think it's official. I was flipping through the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly and came across this short statement.

Included in this mini-marathon is an episode only seen by fans who followed Family Guy to its second home on Cartoon Network. Thanks to them it's back. Let's just prey FOX keeps it that way.

Is this a sign?

Meh, they stole everything else on the show from Groening and made it less mature.  Why not just ripoff his least mature character?

Yes I know you were kidding but I feel I ought to try and contribute something.

I heard a rumor that says new episodes will air in January? Is this true?
Also, when the new episodes are ready, will they air on FOX, Cartoon Network, or both? (And if it airs on FOX, when will Cartoon Network be able to air it?)

I heard they were going to air the new episodes after the Superbowl. I was wondering this also.

American Dad, Seth's other show is premiering after the Super Bowl.

Last time I heard, the new Family Guy episodes are going to be in March and they air first on Fox, then Adult Swim gets to show them a week later.

I read the review of it on IGN.  Even though I already have both DVD sets I'm going to have to get that as well.
I usually don't get DVDs that only contain a few episodes, but because of the new commentaries, the Osama scene is uncut, and the behind the scenes look at the fourth season, I'm going to have to get it.

There's nothing quite like making people buy the exact same episodes twice.   FOX really will milk the hell out of the revival of Family Guy.  If there's money to be made, then FOX will find a way to make it off the show.

Personally, I'm worried.  I was never a huge fan of the show (still have it on in the background on CN sometimes), but the last season definately was an improvement.  Let's see if the improvement continues.  Oh, and "American Dad" will suck.  End of story.

Yeah, I felt the same way about the last season. Although I haven' seen an episode for about 10 months now(wow!), I still remember how much I loved Brian on coke as well as the other plots in Season 3.

And I need the new dvd. I HAVE to see Osama.

When I heard "Road to Rhode Island" was uncut, I thought it would include that scene I saw on the internet, where the videotaped marriage counselor stripper takes off her bra and licks her nipples (of course, I can't find that clip now).

The "Brian & Stewie" commentary on that episode alone made it worth the purchase, plus I like having a hard copy of the "American Dad" pilot.

Are you sure you didn't just imagine that, or that it wasn't fake? Why would the spend precious budget money on something which has zero chance of airing? Unless of course it didn't actually show her nipples(IE: they ere obsured somwhow).

No, it is real, and you can see her nipples. It was just about 10 seconds of footage that was animated & never intended to air, basically as a joke on behalf of the animators or something, I think.

I see. That's actually pretty funny. I can imagine the FOX censor watching the episode only to see that pop up.

I suppose I owe laroquettespine an apology, then. I'm sorry, but if I catch you trying to plant you're seed in my daughter again, you're grounded.

Still, there is a possibility that it's fake, but I'm pretty sure it's real because:

a) The animation is exactly like the show's animation.
b) The background music on the tape Peter watches is different.

Like you said, though - if it was real, the reactions of the FOX censor must've been priceless.  laff

I thought the Osama scene in "Road to Rhode Island" was taken out on the DVD?  That scene is on the DVD?  I hope it is.

Also, I hear the first new episode of Family Guy will feature Drew Berrymore playing the voice of a teacher who likes Chris.

I still think it is messed up that Family Guy is only coming back and Futurama isn't.

Are Family Guy DVD sales bigger than Futurama?

I think that question has been asked thousands of times, but I've yet to see any proof of that.

In my opinion, even if Futurama sold more DVDs than Family Guy, FOX wouldn't bring it back.  While FOX treated both shows badly, FOX just hates Futurama, regardless.

Boy, you still have your head lodged firmly into your ass, don't you? In TV business it's all ratings ratings ratings. We've heard the rumors before. I can't believe you're still convinced that FOX hates Futurama. Just because you're a little fanboy doesn't mean anything. That would mean FOX hates you too, right? Give me a break.

I guess somebody still likes being a big ass even on the Holidays.

I do know about ratings, why do you think FOX had Futurama air on Sundays at 7pm?  To get low ratings.  Futurama has high ratings now on Cartoon Network.  If FOX liked the show, why aren't they thinking about bringing it back like Family Guy?  Maybe because they don't like it, due to the fact they never understood the show and liked all the content the show had.   Matt and David have made this clear over and over.

If they didn't like the Simpsons, FOX would cancel that show in a minute.  They like it because of all the profits they get from it.  They felt they couldn't get much from Futurama, of course they enjoy us fans buying the DVDs since there won't be any new episodes.

Dude, you're retarded if you think that I envision FOX spending there time talking about how much they hate Futurama.

From what I understand, Futurama is a forgotten memory to FOX anyway.  Maybe, I should've said "disliked" instead of "hate".

Well I'm under the impression right now by the way you post on this forum that all you do is sit on your ass and watch TV and movies. It seems like all you ever do is post in this forum to express how much you love celebrities and pay close attention to every minute detail of their lives. As far as being an asshole on a Futurama site goes...it's not just here, it's everywhere. I am a fucking asshole and damn proud of it. So you better just get used to it you dead animal fucker.

Just so we're clear, I have no problem with you being an asshole, but "Dead animal fucker"?  Dude, I'm not into that, you should think about raising your standards a little bit higher.

Anyway, me spending some time on the computer and visiting PEEL doesn't automatically imply I do it 24/7.  If you check, I haven't post anything here in a while, because i have a life like anyone else.

Also, when I visit PEEL, I'm semi-serious, because it's something I'm proud of.  I look at PEEL as a place where you don't have to be completely serious when you visit.  So if I post something like how much I like "so and so", it doesn't mean I'm hella obsessed about it.  Just because you take everything seriously on PEEL doesn't mean I have to.

As far as the posting how much I love celebrities, isn't that the point of this site?  People posting their opinions about TV shows, music, movies and such.

Next thing you know, you'll call some of the people retarded for posting what movies they're looking forward on the "Films You're Looking Forward To" thread.

fryfanSpyOrama: Fox doesn't have anything against Futurama, it was just too expensive to produce and didn't get the ratings it needed to stay on. Family Guy is cheaper than Futurama, and it's a damn funny show.

Love from,

I do know it cost over a million dollars to make to one episode of Futurama.  I'll admit that Family Guy has more LOL funny moments than Futurama.

What I'm a little disappointed is that FOX didn't do much to promote Futurama and get it the high ratings just like how FOX would promote the Simpsons a lot.  The problem was most people didn't know about Futurama.  Even I forgot to tune in on some Sundays at 7pm to watch episodes.

Cartoon Network promotes Futurama a lot and Futurama was one of the highest rated shows they had in 2003.

Hell, I do hope that FOX realizes the ratings Futurama gets on CN and decides to bring it back like Family Guy.

What I would like to know is the DVD sales of both Family Guy and Futurama, just to compare them.

You're gay!     tongue

Seriously though, besides laziness, I abandoned the letter campaign I was starting to try and get Futurama back(you know, the one that argued from a profit standpoint rather than "OMFG! FOX IS TEH SUXXORS!!!!111 ) because in my research, I discovered that Family Gy actually has made oddles of cash for FOX in the last year. As much as it saddens me, that amount that was made on Family Guy DVDs alone according to the sales figures elclisped Futurama, that's without factoring in the fact that Futurama was more expensive to make. Granted that Futurama had a horrible time slot, but Family guy had 8 different timeslots, and half of the last season was aired during the Summer(Which can at many times be worse than a bad Sunday slot during the Fall/Winter) and it still matched Futurama in ratings. Yes Futurama is better written in many of our opinions(including mine personally), and I'd like to see it make a return as much as any of you, but Family Guy is more popular with the general public. Get over it. It's still a fantastic show, and it's one of the funniest damn things on television.

Yeah but Family Guy had higer ratings overall in 2003. Your right, FOX did promote the hell out of Futurama at first, and it did get high ratings(It was the highest rated series preimre ever in fact). It's fine to say the FOX moved the show from Tuesdays(where it was doing pretty good in the ratings) to Sunday at 7(where it pretty much bottomed out)and that killed the show, but when it was moved to Tuesdays in the first place, I recall Matt G. bitching because it wasn't on Sundays. The way I see it, it's as much Matt's fault for not coperating with the network more with regardes to this as it was Fox's.

I didn't actually expect that whole letter thing was going to work in bringing back the show.  I only went along just to tell FOX how I felt about them cancelling the show.  To be honest, I strongly don't expect Futurama to come back at all, at this point, but I do sometimes have a tiny iota chance of hope that it may.

Hooray!  Lampy's randomly flaming people in my thread!

Yeah, Family GUy's basically just a lot more profitable.
- Cheaper to animate
- Lowest Common Denominator humor (still funny though)
- Seth MacFarlane's a whore who'll bend over and give up creative control for a nickel.

Anyway, I bought my brother the Freakin' Sweet collection for Christmas.  Just what is the Osama scene and how dirty is it?
