You sure showed him!

Now, Toy Story 2
Meh, the little green alien dudes are still the best, but I liked the "No, I am your father" reference...

If only I could remember which film it was referring too...  :hmpf:

C or B, I haven't really put much thought into it.

Watched the DVD version of Team America for the first time this weekend.  Its score goes down to 9.9/10 for taking the full version of America Fuck Yeah off of the credits, although you do get a bonus song explaining the origins of Kim Jong-Il in a very Crab People-esque fashion.

I ended up seeing Serenity. It wasn't completely awful - quite an achievement given the budget and TV origins. Dialogue-wise, it didn't end up being 'Buffy in Space' like I'd anticipated, but it was annoyingly stilted, and oh so clichéd at points. The effects shots got better as the film progressed, so you could tell they worked on them chronologically - the sequence near the beginning where they're being chased by orcs reevers was excruciatingly slow, with the CGI comping showing up something terrible.

Story and plot wise, I probably would have got more out of it if I'd bothered watching Firefly, but the whole thing never appeared to go anywhere and, like the dialogue, it was full of sci-fi stereotypes and clichés. The whole 'we need to broadcast this tape to save humanity' thing didn't really make for much climactic intensity, especially for a feature film.

It's a shame Firefly was canned. The whole concept looks like it'd make quite an enjoyable TV series. But as a movie, it wasn't very impressive.

You must be seriously mentally disturbed to give that movie A++. Its sick, you and rob zombie both must think mass murder is cool. Not smart not pretty no emotion (your SUPPOSED to feel sorry for a gang of murderous freaks). No entertainment scences just plain brutal and savage.  Well obviously wooter must like those kind of scences to find it entertaining   :nono:

Yes, I think it is pretty clear that I am mentally disturbed. God, I love Otis. "I think I still smell your wife's pussy stink on my gun." Brilliant. And no, I don't think mass murder is cool. I think FICTIONAL mass murder is entertaining.

Who's mentally disturbed now?
"Pssst, Wooter says he is"

:laff: Pfft! That lonely whining guy?
"Shhh! He might infect us all with it!"

Anywhoo:
Downfall:
Excellent, mmmyes, very good.
I'm not exactly sure how accurate it is, but now everytime I think about Hitlers last few weeks or days, that's what my mind will go to.
Also, his secretarys kinda cute... in an Aryan sort of way.
It had enough action and weird characters to not be boring too, just like Schindlers List.

Speer was cool, what's his full name and rank or whatever? And Goebbels, the actor who played him scared the pants off me. *shudder*

Return of the Living Dead: NECROPOLIS

The plot seemed a little iffy, and there wasn't enough characterisation. The zombies at least looked decent, though. Not great, but I've seen worse.

Doom
Meh, not as bad as I thought it would be, then again, I did lower my expectations slightly before watching.
But The Rock is always gonna be cheesy, so I might aswell enjoy it. Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike were cool in it. Urban still hasn't lost his "Eomer Brow", which he carried all the way through THe Bourne Supremecy to this movie!  :p

The plot was completely stolen from any generic sci-fi monster PC game:
Secret lab, event, SOS message, soldiers sent in, discover bodies, hilarity random violence ensues... etc.

The FPS sequence was kind of cool to see.
Special effects were ok, but they didn't show the monsters as much as I thought they would, it was far more like Alien than Aliens, I thought.

The best line:

C--

The Transporter
More mindless action with dodgy plot.
Action sequences were good (mostly the car chase at the start) enough for my expectations again, but I can see how it didn't get much mainstream attention.
Statham was very "47"-ish, which was cool.  :D

The monsters in Doom had weird goo-blood that indicated they were evil as opposed to normal non-evil blood...

Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave

Horrible, horrible movie, like the previous one, but I had a good time watching it. It at least took itself less seriously than Necropolis.

Walk The Line

At first I was skeptical and worried that many events in Johnny's life would be changed for dramatic purposes, but some quick research indicated that the most important ones were left intact. Both lead actors did a fantastic job, they got the voices June Carter and Johnny Cash perfect, as well as many of their mannerisms. I think this one will be one to watch at the oscars, though my favourite going in last year(Finding Neverland) didn't win.

The big lebowski:

Despite having loved fargo and being in heavy anticipattion for this movie i was heavily let down. It just wasnt as funny or smart as fargo. The characters were annoying and i didint give a shit about them. Plus there was just something missing. C

Heathen! The Big Lebowski's a great film, if only for the trip-out sequences. Although I can see what you mean in preferring Fargo to it.

Aeon Flux

Very confusing until the end when they explain what the hell has been going on for the past hour. It's really violent. Not as I thought it would be. And comparing Charlize Theron's hair to the original MTV Aeon, I like Charlize's hair better.

God, have you guys never seen a 3 hour movie before or something?

Titanic: 3 hours. "Eh. no problem"

Return Of The King: 3 hours and 20 minutes "Cool, it's long"

King Kong: 3 hours and 8 minutes. "Holy shit, let's not see this movie!"

Just because it's 3 hours doesn't mean it's unwatchable. That excuse to not see a movie only goes so far.

BTW, The film is 800 pounds of excellence.

Three hour films are ok but if you have a weak bladder like VF and Nix (perfectly matched, right down to their insides!) you have to go pee halfway in.  :p

There was a rule that nobody in Ireland could bring their own food and drink in to the cinema, but now some loophole says unless the cinema provides tables for thier food and drink, they can't enforce that rule!  :D

I know you didn't. I'm was just making examples of the general public, because that's the only reason they refuse to see the film. I didn't mean to base it towards you.

I got around to watching the special features on the  HHGttG movie DVD the other day, in particular the Really Deleted Scenes.

"The name's Dent.  Arthur Dent.  Do Panic, moth******ers!"

Also, can anyone explain why they left out "Mostly Harmless" and the extended Babelfish entry, if they had already filmed them?  Did they just feel that the scene would be too long with them?  If so, they probably could have just shifted them to an earlier scene like Arthur's reminiscence of the fancy dress party.  Maybe they would have remained funny in the move.

Sorry.  Last HG2G rant of the year.

From a Yahoo King Kong article:

"If it was a bit shorter, I would be tempted to see it again," says Paul Wesselmann, 38, of Madison, Wis. "But three hours is a serious commitment to a second viewing. Of course, I did see Titanic eight times in the movie theater."

Although I may have to be lame if I want to see the K-Kong Man and go on my own, if my nerdy studying friends won't go with me.
