This one is going to need a rewatch, because a whole lot was going on.  I wish the show would always be an hour long!  This season seemed so short.

P.S. One last Christmas gift: I promised "news" the last time I was here. And though I'm not at liberty to disclose the full details just yet, I am happy to at least be able to tell you that we were not lying in the end credits of our season finale: The Venture Bros. will indeed return. More on that later... Happy Holidays!

Hi, Much Ado. You look like Ribbons, resurgent!

Did anybody else notice that Dragoon and Red Mantle went to the Halloween ritual as Rosey Grier and Ray Milland? Blackface best face of all.

I was excited by the "four years ago" opening. I thought we'd get more Brock, who's always been one of the cornerstones of funny for the show (at least in my own experience).

As you say, it's gone away again now. With ages to wait until Breaking Bad returns, new Futurama being of a lower quality than anticipated, and The Big Bang Theory no longer being worth watching (again, solely in my own experience. YMMV), TV is once again a dreary wasteland. A dreary wasteland made all the more awful by things like "I'm A Celebrity" and "The X Factor".

I envy Tachyon.

I wondered if somewhere out in the "It's got a TV" treasure trove there was a thread about the Venture Brothers, but when I found it and it hadn't been updated in quite some time, I though "too bad I have nothing relevant to add." Over the summer I caught up on some of the more recent episodes and I saw that the world's deadliest Siberian bit the dust. Too bad as I enjoyed the plotlines she appeared in. The line about Triana's boyfriend in the prom episode being a "cripster" nearly caused a tea explosion on my work computer but I managed to choke down the laugh. And the hot tea.

I tried ordering seasons 3 and 4 on DVD for my husband last Christmas but Amazon never restocked them for some unknown reason and my order was canceled. Perhaps I'll luck out this year and can find this Halloween special y'all have mentioned.

Well, season 5 is due to start early next year and that'll probably be before Breaking Bad starts its thrilling conclusion, so we have that to look forwards to, at least.
Plus, there's a new series of Peep Show starting very soon.

Pretty damn awesome season opener. I just hope that they manage to get a proper production crew working on some more episodes at some point, so that we don't end up waiting months to years between installments of the story.

one thing I thought about today is that in this episode the Monarch mentioned watching Game of thrones with 21 even the show still hadn't aired by the time of the P.R.O.M. episode

That's pretty interesting.  I forgot about the show for awhile after season 4 ended, so even though it's been a few years, I can't actually remember a time waiting for the new season.

I've come to terms with their production period being ridiculously long since the pilot... I think it was 2 years from the pilot to the first season, but the pilot was totally worth it, and every season afterwards.

Really liked the new episode. 21 has been my favorite character for a long time now so I'm glad he's still playing a big role.

"U.R.G.H." made me lose my shit.

Though I'd largely forgotten about Venturestein, despite having re-watched the whole series recently to catch my girlfriend up. I get that the overly complicated mythology of this show is part of the joke, but god damn there's a lot to keep track of!

Hank's return as The Bat was effing brilliant, though. So weird seeing a Venture do a competent job at something, even if he is high on caffeine. :)

Sphinx Rising was pretty good, but I have to question whether this is "The Venture Brothers" anymore so much as it is "A bizarre universe of characters who all know the Venture brothers".

I really want things to work out for Gary. He deserves to come out on top, he really does. The poor bastard's working his socks off and getting nowhere. It's a shame, because he's actually not a complete dick (as opposed to Venture, the Monarch, and most of the other characters).

Seeing the Monarch in a prosthetic mask and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch in a beard made me think at first that they were planning some more of the oddly-flavoured sex that we've seen a lot of. That was disturbing.
