Why does Hermes hate Zoidberg so much?

Enlightenment?  Maybe it's because of Zoidberg's odors, or his fascination with eating garbage, or his stupidity... but why does Hermes hate Zoidberg even more than everyone else does?

Maybe because he's universally unloved by Futurama viewers while Zoidberg is idolized as some horrible Godlobster. Keep on truckin', Mr. Conrad. I like you.

Mabye a lobster killed his Grandmother in that tar paper shack on Montigo Bay, so he is biased against all lobsters.

I think it's because their total opposites, Hermes is a hard working buracrat and Zoidberg is the worst doctor since Dr. Kavorkian. Oh yeah  and the odor thing.

I think Hermes's grandmother's death had something to do with lava.  I think it was mentioned in the episode with the parallel universes in the box.

Not really, she just said that "if you want a box hurled into the Sun, you have to do it yourself". Thean again, considering she's dead, she might have taken her own advice a bit to literally. 

The reason Hermes hate Zoidy is probably because it's just too easy to blame him for everything, you never here Zoidy fight back or protest, he just accept whatever blame Hermes place on him with a sad sob. Plus, ofcourse, he's a bad doctor, and stand for everything Hermes doesn't.

I think Hermes doesnt just hate Zoidberg, but also the Prof and the rest of the crew.

Remember from Farnsworth Parabox he actually thought about opening the airlock and flinging the entire crew into the sun.

I think he's just very bitter for some reason.

To Hermes, Zoidberg is: Stupid, foul-smelling, pathetic and annoying. As VoVat pointed out, he also sent him to a slave labour camp. Ignore the fact that Zoidberg saved him from the camp and you have all the reasons you need.

they did mention it in the dvd commenties and they named the episode which it started in (the hermes hating zoidberg thing) i just cant rember which episode commentry or which commentry they named ill have a look through them and see if i cant find it i do belive it was on disc 1 of season 3 somewhere they mentioned it ill have a look then post later

Zoidberg: Pretty good story hey hermes
Hermes: STICK TO SOMEONE ELSE YOU WINDY BARNACLE
Commentry1: is that where he started turning against zoidberg or did he always hate him
Commentry2: No It was in the "Robot Hell" episode he turned

ok i havent currently got season 1 on dvd so i cant watch "Hell Is Other Robots" 1ACV09 to see what happened... someone else care to tell?

My absolute favorite Hermes ahting Zoidberg moment happened in BGM.

It's after Leela's blinded by the spice weasel, the ship takes off before the hangar doors open all the way.

*Hermes and Zoidberg sitting on foreground and both watch as PE ship crashes through the hangar doors in the background*
Hermes (pointing at Zoidberg):"That's coming out of your pay."
Zoidberg:*starts sobbing*

Yes, that was. Any comedy at the expense of Zoidberg's feelings are absolutely hilarious. And Hermes has caused a few.

Hermes hates every one, remember in Bendin' in the Wind when Bender is about to go on tour, he says that Bender got mangled and he got to be a rock star, "...both our dreams came true", but I think he picks on Zoidberg more, cause it is easier to make Zoidby cry
