I agree.  Futurama didn't make fun of Slick Willy nearly enough.

I know he's not a president, but just imagine the future under Hitler.

Yeah, but that would NEVER make it onto network TV. They're lucky they got the jokes about him that they did.

Bill Clinton and Nixon are the best and easiest to make fun of, anyway. However, if Clinton was president, then most of his jokes would be too Zapp-like, so Nixon's the best. Can you picture any other president going "AROOOOO!!"?

That's a good point.  Slick Willy and Zapp would have been redundant.

Gerry Ford is pretty funny, but it's mostly physical comedy with him.  That would be pretty hard to do when he's a head in a jar.

nixon was the right choice, however they could have made more trips back to see the other presidents heads, like in "a head in the polls"

I'm not sure great white sharks can be elected President, though.

Oh, and what about John Quincy Addingmachine?

Well, I think that they should have had a Canadian Prime Minister. Being from Canada, I would love to see that. Plus they could make jokes about how NOT ONE PERSON KNOWS WHO HE/SHE IS (yes thats right folks, we've had a female Prime Minister)

I agree. He/she would be in office for about a week and then forgotten about and a newly elected President would be thrown in (Kim Campbell was in office for about 6 months btw).

I know Campbell was only in for about 6 months, I was exagerating that to make a point. She wasn't in for very long, and got utterly destroyed in the next election, so it isn't like it was some great, earth-shattering accomplishment. She never even won a federal election as PM.

Regarding the show: I don't think a Canadian PM would make sense in a jar. The "Earth" of the future is far too US-centered (something I would not have done) in order to relate more to most people in the audience, and/or allow for relevant political satire.

Well, yeah.  In Futurama, though, it's more like they just renamed the US "Earth" and expanded it to engulf the planet.  I'm not saything that may not happen, of course.  :)

I totally agree. But I can safely say that every other person (card carrying American-patriot-go-nuts) is leering at our conversation with contempt...so I think it's best to end it now.
But you have some great insights

So have Britain, but you don't hear us bragging about it...

And I'll take a shot in the dark and guess that the reason Futurama's Earth is so US-centered is because the show's made in America, primarly for an American audience.
