Another attempt to explain the What-If Machine:
The What-If Machine, when posed a "What if" question, generates a video simulation of what would happen, more commonly known as a 'Tale Of Interest'.
There are several ways of generating a response from the machine, including winding a handle, pushing the left front button, pulling a string, burning wood to produce smoke, and pulling down a leaver.
It also comes with a narrator making a comment after the Tale Of Interest.
Here are some of my theories on the video simulation:
- The What-If Machine shows an alternate reality where everything is exactly the same except for what the question was about.
- The What-If Machines reads the questioner's mind, and from that information it is able to predict what would happen.
- The video simulation is just randomly simulated events that relate to the question.
