What exactly is Hermes obcession with green snakes and sugar cane fields? They seem to have taken over from his "Sweet something of someplace" catchphrases.

What could possibly be unfunny about any sentence containing green snakes and sugarcanes?

I can only remember him using them about twice in one episode. Anyone know how may times he has used said things overall?

he also says something to the effect of calling zoidberg fry and bender lousy green snakes when they are all looking at the box. "and one time pepperoni, ohh what a day that was.....GIVE ME THE BOX!"
