We all know 'Walking on Sunshine' is Fry's favorite song ever.  What I noticed about the character of Fry is that his taste in music seems to be only one-hit wonder songs from the 80's.

In Futurama-O-Rama in one of the stories, he tells Leela that the greatest band ever was Kajagoogoo!  I thought that was hilarious!  What does everyone else think of Fry's taste in music?

He was also the first person to get up and start dancing like an Emo-schizo at that Beasty Boys concert...which ended in Leela pounding a few bystanders with her mighty boot-feet.

It seems to be mainly hip-hop orientated (Beasties, Sir Mix-a-lot, the "Cosmic F" scene) with a smattering of oddities such as the aforementioned Katrina and the Waves hit, Huey Lewis' 'Sports' and, of course, 'The Hustle'.

It suits his character very well, in my opinion, the hip-hop leanings reflecting his roots (growing up in a NY neighbourhood, as he did), and the fringes of his interests being an indication that Fry ain't exactly the jauntiest outfit on the green. Let's face it, "Walking on Sunshine" ain't exactly a navel-gazing angst-ridden student anthem for people who like to believe they're intelligent now, is it? Don't think we'd have the same love for Fry if he were a Smiths fan.   :D

i saw that movie just cause of that ep. It kinda sucked. Basically this group of teenagers from various social groups get caught in detention, spend the afternoon confessing the secrets of their souls to each other and then resolve to never talk to each other again because hey talking to someone outside of your social click in public just isn't done.

I heard it was an awesome movie, but then again my friends are all mentally inhibited.

It was an 80's movie (I believe?) so it should be considered an accomplishment for its time. Profoundness was usually melodrama back then. :-p

Maybe your friends are mentally inhibited, but if they told you that The Breakfast Club was a good movie, they were right.  Go and watch it.  Go.  Now.

As for Fry's taste in music, I never really thought about it.  It doesn't seem unusual to me at all.  Doesn't everyone listen to that kind of stuff?

Yes, you do.  You and luvnpeese both need to go and watch it right now.

If you watch it together you can split the rental fee and save money.   :p

It is kind of odd that such a serious breakdancer would also listen to Katrina and the Waves, Rush, and Men Without Hats.  But the Breakfast Club soundtrack and the Huey Lewis album, Sports, came with the Ronco record vault.  So Fry didn't go out and buy them.  He could have got the vault for any number of other records.

Breakfast Club is good. Not particularly spectacular, but worth seeing. Watch it now!

Who did The Hustle?

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five didn't make an appearance.

I haven't seen the Breakfast Club either. Only my cool friends with video players had seen it and loved it (my dad didn't buy 'new' technology until it had been on the market at least twenty years).

Besides which, isn't Molly Ringwald in it? Bleah, can't stand her.   :puke:
