One thing I believe is killing the simpsons is that you aren't seeing the old characters you love anymore.. they are only putting in new ones... id like to see that Horrible Gelatinous Blob more in futurama... hes hilarious. The last time i saw him was in Problem with Popplers... has he been in since then? who else need more time? i was thinking of another character whos been out for a while but i cant remember.

ok first off what is killing the simpsosn is the that it's all watered down.  There is nothing left for the writers so they have gone to a more generalized aproach.  This last season was pretty bad.

Futurama on the other hand keeps getting better and better every ep.

And Phil Hartman was murdered by his wife who then commited sucicide herself.  Phil hartman was susposed to be the voice of Zap on futurama, instead someone does a bad phil hartman voice now.

I think bender unit 22 is his name like it's a designation that he got when he was made, and bender bending rodriguiez is the name he adopted for himself.

If you check here it has bender unit 22 as his real name so who knows, he has 2 names. http://www.fox.com/futurama/citizens/characters.bender.html

Futurama does have more to go on, considering the fact that they can create any new species, planet, or character any time they want.  Plus Futurama has a wider main cast than the Simpsons, so it may take longer before they run out of things for them to say.

Yeah, but while Futurama have more to draw on, they also have to be careful not to rely too much on creating outlandish characters and settings.
They'd lose credibilty if they just dreamt up a new planet every episode. They do have a wider main cast, though. Especially considering that 3 of the Simpsons are children
