Eh what's your point, I call nearly everyone by my last name or a nickname, and everyone calls me Britz, which is based off my last.

BAM! A Irish jig version of a TOTPD and a new ranking, sweeeeeet, it's good to be back.

I wanted to contribute this to all you PEELers and I think this is the right place.
It's a really good discovery! (NOT)

Did you all know that in "Legacy, the logan family" (don't watch it, I know you PEELers a little bit, and I think you won't like it) there is a doctor called Farnsworth! And later on there is a horse (just born) named after the doctor (because a little girlis inlove with the doctor), so a horse is called Farnsworth too!

I don't think it's a Futurama-reference (I'm quite sure), but when I couldn't sleep last night (around 4 o'clock) I started wondering where the name came from. Where does Farnsworth come from? Does anybody know?

I'm sorry but that was like soooo off topic it wasnt even funny( at least to me)

But to answer your question the name Farnsworth is the professor's last name.

He is named after Philo T. Farnsworth, an inventor who was one of the pioneers of television.

I generally respond to anything yelled in my general direction.
My friend Payam is the same.  He responds to 'fat slag' but not to his own name. C'est la vie.

Since this is about Futurama chracter names. Hmm, a probably old and well known fact, but in German (and some Skandinavian languages as well ?) there are two words spoken very similar to "Leela" and "Fry":
lila (German) = purple (look at her hair    )
frei (German) = free, independent (fits good on Fry, or?)

Anyway: Have you ever looked for the meaning of the names of the PE crew people?
Amy is origianlly Aimée or so, which means "the beloved"
Philip (Fry) is "the friend of the horses"
Turanga and Leela are from Sanaskrit origin ("game of the gods/goddesses at the creation of the world" and "running horses in the wind" or so ...)
Hubert simply means "shining mind" ... aha!

Somehow, I don't think that that one could be coincidence.   :)  I know that Leela is named after a piece of music, but perhaps this is why her hair is purple.

I get called by my last name a lot, becuase it's more famous as the first name of Harrison Ford than as just about anybody's last name.

I intend to rectify this situation.  :evillaugh:
