Many of the times when she laughs and looks over at him, for just an eyeblink she has an expression of real affection.  She has the hots for him.

(Note: I haven't seen the episode where he flashes her.  )

Agree?  Or am I nuts?  Or just uninformed.  If the latter, feel free to apply Def-Con.
To the thread, that is.   :p

He flashes her because it's "Freedom Day", and she screams herself half to death if i remember correctly!

If they weren't ANIMATED CHARACTERS I'd think you might be on to something.

This is where we talk about the characters without reality disclaimers.  Those of us who aren't schizophrenic know it's a cartoon.  To be painfully correct, I'll rephrase my post:

The animators draw Linda with an unusually affectionate expression when they draw her looking at Morbo.  Is this the only remaining artifact of a deleted subplot?

Satisfied?

I know it's a lightweight thread.  But at least it isn't "Naked Leela".

Maybe she sees him as a father figure. Again I'm new.

Welcome to PEEL Cows Heart. I'm pretty sure Morbo' a married Alien anyway, we've seen his wife.

Isn't it meant to be some sort of comment on the nauseating 'chemistry' between news anchors?  Morbo, after all, is hideous, bloodthirsty and cruel.  And Linda *still* laughs at his comments even if it's something like 'Earthlings do not yet know the meaning of suffering' or 'Kittens give Morbo gas'.

To PCC Fred et al: You guys sound like the Roundtable Knights defending Guinevere's honor.  (Oops bad example  :) )  Note the quotes.  I was dissing that cesspool of a thread, not the character's luscious and hypothetical state of undress!

NB, since when did being married stop other people from ogling a spouse?

Good point, planetcutie, but still... do a freezeframe sometime.  I think the animators went beyond co-anchor chemistry.  By the way, someone theorized that Morbo's putting on an act, i.e., he's a softie off-camera.

Welcome to peel, the cow's heart.  I have to agree with Vintage Dave.  Her flirtacious laughing and that affectionate look really do give it away.  It's odd because one of my friends who like futurama at school asked me if there was supposed to be chemistry there...

I was JUST thinking that this morning while watching my Season 2 DVD. I was wondering if anyone else noticed those little looks she gives him. She definatley has a thing for him, even if it's just admiration.

There are other times when she does *not* have that special twinkle.  Someday I'll take notes on every news moment and report back.  I can't remember which S2 episode you're referring to, but it's probably the one that prompted me to start this thread.

Linda's vacuous enough to fall for a big strapping news-monster.  Makes sense to me.

I'm just wondering whether it was a momentary whim of the animators/writers/voice actors, or a running gag in the background, or as I originally said, leftovers from a deleted subplot.  It could be simply the first, because the animators draw whatever the voice actor said, not the other way around.

I think it's A Head In The Polls?

Right, she ends her laugh with this little falling note like a vocalized sigh, and the animator drew her giving Morbo "the look".

I love Morbo! But I don't know... Linda seems to be too much of an idiot to 'get' Morbo. I think she's just off with the fairies, not really recognising that he's there... but maybe that's just me.  :p

But Morbo already has a family anyway, as we saw in A Head In The Polls.
Nixon: How's the family?
Morbo: Beligerent and numerous.

Morbo: And that's why the third graders at PS 139 are Morbos 'Vermin of the Week'.
Linda: Haha haha. In actual news, the human race was doomed to extinction today as the robot revolt turned violent.

But the best Newscast is the one in 'The Day the Earth stood Stupid'
Linda: Hahahahahha. You fell.
Hi! Today some bad things happened. One bad thing was, a train got crashed in New Jersey. Wanna see?

You really have to hear it because of her stupid voice in that episode.
