Nibbler: "You must not give up on her. blah blah..." Too bad we never heard the Nibblonian prophecy itself. But I as far as I understood the prophecy never included any names. Just that there would be "The One" and that there would be "The Other", which seemed to have some sort of relationship. Thank of for your attention.

It's Jedi. And I also have this nagging feeling that there's something *more* to Leela's involvement in the Nibblonian prophecy, which is supported by the following quote, stating that it's not over yet: "Fry: Well, if you ever need a savior again, just ask." "Nibbler: Oh, we will. We will." The story is left untold from here on, as this is something we should have found out in 5ACV or later... It makes sence, too. Matt Groening(?) said that while 4ACV18 isn't exactly open ended and was written as a possible series finale, it certainly doesn't tie up all loose ends.

Hmm, "Clone High"? Looks like I missed something...

Imagine if you will in 5ACV and Leela has actually fallen in love with Fry and then Nibbler tells them that they are related, and so it becomes the latest in a series of events designed to keep the two of them apart.

Yes. That would certainly be a series ender moment there. Besides I get the hint they're supposed to procreate. That would defeat the purpose.

It's possible that they come from the same genetic strand, but their relation would be so distant that it wouldn't matter. I don't see how (or WHY, for goodness sake, WHY) they'd work that into the story.

Yeah. That is a good point.

Uh...in something that's slightly related to this... ...is anyone doing a virtual Futurama season project anywhere? If not, why not? There are HEAPS of shows getting that treatment these days - I think it started with an X-Files project that just caught on. If so, where, when, and any spoilers?

Yeah, some of us have started a Futurama virtual seasons project, which we called, oddly enough, FuturamaSeasons. Been running for about a month now, and we're still sort of "setting up" - we didn't begin "official production" yet, although we will soon. Our website is still in its "pre-release" form, so if you're interested in finding out more or joining, visit us at our forum.

Hey, add the number of eyes Fry has and the number of eye Leela has, and you get three.
The Nibblonians have three eyes.
I know where my mind's going with this and I'm having trouble accepting it even as the remotest of remote possibilities. (Probably because my mum's asleep and I don't want to wake her with my screams. I think Fry screamed it best in Roswell That Ends Well, but it wasn't exactly the same situation as the one I'm thinking of now.)
Could Fry and Leela be the origins of the Nibblonian race, or could I be insane due to the fact that it's nearly 1:00am?

I DO think that Leela was the "other one" Nibbler was referring to - but I don't think it was a hint they were meant for eachother or anything. I think Nibbler deliberately froze Fry at that time for a reason. After all - if he had been frozen any earlier - he wouldn't have met Bender (who played a vital roll in Fry's getaway from Leela) and if he had froze him any later that day - he wouldn't have met Leela (keep in mind that I think Fry was her last unfreezing for that day, as she said she wanted to make it quick so she could get to new years celebrations). Now - the freezing moment would have had to occur within 30 seconds of that time so Fry could have met both Leela and Bender, right?
Now - let's keep in mind that if Fry hadn't managed to escape that far (thanks to Bender bending the bars), he probably wouldn't have convinced Leela to join Planet Express. Now, what does this have to do with Nibbler's comment? Well, look - almost every time Fry has almost died, it's been Leela who saved him. If it wasn't for Leela - Fry wouldn't have survived. I think Nibbler refers to Leela as "the other" because she is pretty much Fry's protector, and the rest of the stuff I brought up pretty much explains why Nibbler would have had to have frozen Fry at that moment.
So, basically - I don't think Nibbler's comment had anything to do with Fry and Leela's love life or anything - I think it was simply because Leela is the sole reason Fry hasn't died yet. Although this is just some theory I've come up with - it does make sense. Perhaps they were planning to explain it later on, but until I see proof of that - I'm sticking with my "Fry's protector" theory.
Maybe it will be explained in The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings, considering that seems to be the only unaired Fry & Leela heavy episode left. Damn... this post went on quicker than I expected. Oh well, at least I've shared my little "other one" explanation here.

That's also his job I do believe. While it is apparent that Leela saves him more often than Nibbler, Nibbler's speciality is working in secret. Let's not forget, he did give him a flower which Fry gave to Leela. I don't think the future depends on them getting together, but it may be beneficial. Of course, there's always the chance Nibbler was lying and giving Fry false hope. Although, it's not as if the relationship isn't a possibilty.

Well, out of the 5 episodes remaining - Devil's Hands is the one that's most likely to explain what he meant - and that's IF it gets explained before final cancellation. Keep in mind that Devil's Hands was made with the thought in mind that it might be cancelled, so that'd be a good episode to tie up any loose ends with Fry or Leela (even though they still left the ending open for continuation).
