Mutants
are mutants and not aliens. I mean I think to remember that aliens is the English word for "species from another planet" or something like this. Well, I'm pretty sure it is this way.
mermaids
are simply deep-sea mutants. Also not aliens.
I think the Neptunians and Morbo's species would fit better in that list. Or the Neptunians and "other species".
But the list can't be changed. So, who should I vote for?

In it's origin "alien" simply means "stranger" or "diffrent from the norm". Usually describing foreigners. If you remember Stings "Englishman in New York" the man in the song described himself as "a legal alien".

It's just modern sci-fi that have made the word instantly associated with little green men.

In that light mutants are as much alien to the New New Yorkers as Balls and Omicronians.

Good point, but I think that generally the word alien is associated with beings from other planets, certainly in terms of Futurama, because otherwise the lines get sort of fuzzy.

Come on, that's funny. I don't have a problem with Leela's parents. They may not be the greatest characters in the Futurama universe, but they're not horrible either.

... Um, horrible characters, that is. In their character. Because I know they're horrible to look at. But nice people. Yeah.

But thats why futurama is so great. All through series 1-3 the audiance assumed Leela (see, I can spell it) was an alien. It was just a great twist to find out she was a mutant. I suppose it was just a bit more exciting to find Leela was from Earth all along.

The Robots are also a cool race, especially when they rise up in the "Mothers Day" ep. I love that Mothers Day card.

I suppose I'll go with the Neutrals. I thought they were just one of the greatest, funniest things ever, the first time I saw that episode all those several years ago. Now i'm getting all nostalgic for the days when Futurama was all fresh and stuff... those lovely days.

Who was it on the commentary who said there should have been more neutral humour at the time when they were making the episode, and who was it again that disagreed? I can't remember but I love whoever it was that wanted more Neutral humour.
