Just stating the obvious. When I want someone to give me a 'tude, I'll ask for it.

I like Leela because she is not perfect and was born and grew up in an unfortunate situation where she needs to fight to have achievement in her life.

She turns up fine and although some people gave her a hard time about her physical difference (her one eye) she didn't let that bothers or destroys her.

She still has her sex appeal and has guys going after her. She is also a strong, kind, warm and gentile fine lady.

Well, she's beautiful, resourceful, brilliant and unappreciated. She has a tough, lets get on with it, attitude but she has a softer, gentler side which is hidden most of the time. Shes emotionally complex, perhaps damaged, due to the bullying she suffered as a child due to her obvious physical differences (kids love to pick on other kids who stand out in the slightest way, theres no-one as cruel as children) but instead of being crushed it's made her stronger as a person mentally and physically. Perhaps she's overcompensated a little to much in that area. Ok, so she still has hang-ups about men and has a notoriously bad judgment for picking the wrong ones (i.e  Brannigan, etc) but basically like all of us she's just searching for the right person. Ok, I admit it, I'm a little in love with her.

Well the posts are pretty old and I'm late to the party, but this topic is by no means stale to me.  It hits me right in the gut.  I didn't get hooked on the show when it originally aired, but I caught on with the CN re-broadcasts and bought all the dvd's recently.

I'll say right up front I love Leela, or maybe I'm just infatuated with her.

The writers certainly did a great job building her character and making it lovable and the artists did a great job with sex appeal and you can't leave out Katey Sagal's great work with her voice.  The three really compound each other.  Amy is cute for sure, but with Leela you get a much more complete package, a virtual person that even a jaded old jerk like me can like, lust and love.  Can't wait for the new episodes.

I agree with the above post. Being female I hesitate to say this but I think Leela is a wondeful character, strong but sensitive, dominant but insecure too. I also agree that Katey Sagal's voice is absolutaly amazing and it's that which (I believe) gives Leela so much sex appeal.

Nice thread necromancy!

...and I'm leaving my post at that, since I cannot find the words to accurately describe how I myself feel, but what everyone else has already posted in this thread is pretty much in the ballpark.

It serves at least one benefit. It lets newbies like me post something on a thread that we would have had to search for. Of course that is not Amyfan's intention, but it works anyway.

Leela Smart sexy ambitious loyal caring tough brave. Ambivalent,  quick to anger violent, poorest chooser of relationship partners, minimalist.

So the problem is: Older threads that people start up  and get buried under the weight of the newer shinier threads after the ten or fifteen regular posters have added content.Someone pulls them up,pisses some mod off and gets disciplined.
Well some of us have never seen these older threads to discuss. And if we try to start a new thread without consulting the thread graveyard. We could anger another moderator by starting a new thread.
If it's trivial or ill thought out better left in the sands of time. How about locking the thread so no-one can bump it. BTW  What's the harm in reviving older threads?
Curious minds want to know.Well only mine apparently.

Not everyone can be a space pope and have seen all threads since Peel started.

I doubt that I would have the most knowledgable response since I am not one of the long-time PEELers myself, but I agree that there are things to be said in old threads by newer (and older) members. There have been old threads revived with a good bump and yes, that does seem to be a better way of doing things than starting a new thread when there's still an acceptable older thread in which to discuss whatever the topic may be. However, as far as I can see the biggest issue is that Amyfan2 has bumped so many threads in so short a time to either say something obvious or something random and unnecessary (as hobbitboy's picture more amusingly has explained), and this does seem a bit annoying. Of course, I'd better stop talking about this, lest I get fussed at for not really saying anything new or useful myself...

I like Leela because she's tough but fair, strong but soft-hearted, fearless but...well, there's no contradicting quirk that balances that out, I guess. She's so fearless she's occasionally foolhardy. She's beautiful, so beautiful that her one eye actually works for her. And she's a very feminine feminist without having a chip on her shoulder. Plus she's a fool for love...except where Fry is concerned, in which case she's sensible enough to not let herself be rushed into anything. She's lucky enough to have Katey Segal's voice, too; Katy gives Leela real strength and believability. Plus she can sing! I hope we hear more of Katy's (and Leela's) singing in future episodes.

You started it.

My post count? Wow, that's really important to you, isn't it? Could have more to do with the fact that I've been here for three years. Don't worry, I wasn't keeping score. But if you're at the 'space pope' level in three years I get to return the favor and infer that you're a troll.

You made the self celebratory cheer when you made supreme reptile some time back, so it must mean something to you.

edit: At least tedward had something to say instead of You were pissing and moaning. What did that add to the discussion.....Nothing. You interject in a lot of posts without having anything meaningful to say.
I guess that makes you a     Troll.

No, I just left the Internet for a while to go out into real life...
to buy smokes.

What did that add to the discussion..

There was a discussion?!  Where? I missed it. Did it occur before or after you started having a go at me for no reason with your "he that must be obeyed" crap? That certainly didn't add anything.

I'll be honest, Jezz - no. I've had better minions do my bidding, but we'll discuss the recent drop in the quality of your work at your upcoming performance review. For now - I need you to steal some corpses from the cemetery; I'm planning a party.

The discussion was with Tedward.
My original sentiment was voiced to perhaps get a response from a mod about the thread bump thingy. Maybe locking older threads so they couldn't be bumped
You chimed in supporting tedwards point that I had already made.
There was no response from a mod because they have better things to do with their time.
You called me a pisser and a moaner. And i don't think I've ever called you a name but I'm sure you'll review all my posts to prove me wrong.

The He Who must be obeyed....Well we catholics always obey the Pope and he is a rather large reptile.

Holy fuck, Lobster - I was talking about Amyfan2 bumping dozens of threads. Not you. But then you turned around and lashed out as if I was criticizing you. Massive persecution complex.

You chimed in supporting tedwards point that I had already made.

I made it funny.
So what you're angry about is the fact that I supported your point?

NB: You're the one reviewing posts:

You made the self celebratory cheer ... some time back ...

Yes, good show detective.

I don't believe I've ever heard the Pope referred to as "He Who must be obeyed". Sounds like either bullshit or sarcastic blasphemy. It was certainly sarcastic when you threw it at me, that's what pissed me off.

Anyway, Get over the whole rank nonsense, please. If I could remove my rank I would - it doesn't mean anything.
Would it perhaps make you feel less insecure if I made a new account and started again at the bottom? Then you could think that you're bigger than I am. I'd let you think that. How's that sound? Would that make you happy, Mr. Grumpy-poo?

Don't forget that trolls waylay passersby; that's their primary job.  You can't be a troll if you don't make the waylaying passersby commitment...  :nono:
