I know, this one's got an inch of dust on it, but I didn't want to start another Nibbler thread.

Is anyone else a little jealous of Nibbler's cozy relationship with Leela?  Is he some kind of molester?  After all, he is a thousand year old man pretending to be an imbecile while Leela holds him in her lap and strokes him or holds him to her breast.  I don't think that they've been depicted alone since the end of BBS, but does Leela still treat him like a pet or an infant? 

Their image in the 2009 calendar sparked this question in my mind.

I'm honestly surprised she wasn't pissed off at him when he made the big reveal because of this, but on the other hand he's probably only interested in her relevance to the mission and little else.  But, yeah, food for thought....

She does; she's seen stroking him in the lounge at one point (with him acting very cat-like) in Bender's Game.

Speaking of mission, was I the only one under the impression that Nibbler had stationed himself on Vergon 6 on purpose because that's where the Nibblonian profits told him to go to meet Fry?  His whole "I was doing completely unrelated research and was left behind" story came completely out of the blue for me (I suppose it could be a cover story, though from the sound of the commentary it seems like the actual story).

I have no doubt that Nibbler is only interested in Leela in a professional sense and probably uses the cute and cuddly behavior as a cover and not because he's a dirty old man; well maybe it's 90% cover and 10% dirty old man.  One might expect Leela to be put off a bit, but then to be drawn back under his spell since she is such a sucker for cute animals.

I agree that the continuity did seem a little shaky on his reappearance too.  However I like the character and was glad to see a sizeable role for him.
