Teral that was WAY cool!  Being able to hear the different VAs on that scene.

I'd love to see the same done for the others!

Interesting thing is that to me none of the other languages seem to emote as much as the English one.  I don't think it's a matter of not understanding the language, the emotion just isn't there.

You call that emoting!!?

Acutally, I poked around, there are others there.  Gawd!  Zoidberg is AWFUL! in German, French, and Spanish.

Also I noticed later, that in the Spanish version of Leela's scene, Nibbler is silent....  sloppy.

Actually I have a question about a voice.

Just saw "Hell Is Other Robots" again, and the same thing was bugging me when I first saw it.

I'm pretty sure Dan Castellenata was imitating a particular actor as the Devil and I'm thinking he was doing an impression of Hans Conreid, Uncle Tonoose on 'Make Room For Daddy', Waldo Wigglesworth in 'Hoppity Hooper', the host of 'Fractured Flickers'....

Does anybody else hear Hans Conreid's influence in Beelzebot's voice?  Or maybe it's supposed to be some other impersonation?

Has there ever been any interviews with Castellenata in which he talked about what he had in mind for the role?

Exactly how old are the woman who play Leela on Pro7? 10? 13?

Listen for yourself here. It's a compilation of Leela's voice in Spanish, French, German and English from the same scene. The German one is particular silly.

I don't think that "silly" is the right word to describe that voice, inapropriate would be better. However, I think that actors more or less just read their lines, they're not really acting... at least that is what it sounds like while listening to that.

The lack of acting and emotion is one of the particular annoying things about Pro7's version (the sometimes downright stupid translation is another big issue).

I'd say it's a tie between Zappy, Kif, and Zoidy though I think I'm leaning towards Kif, even the actor has a sarcastic tone to EVERYTHING, and well...Kif is really sarcastic. Hell I'd be if I had to spend 24/7 with "The Zapper". Poor Kiff  :(

Well, I finally saw the DVD for this episode and listened to the commentary.  And I was right - whew!  i pride myself on guessing vocal influences and commercial voices.

It was supposed to be a tip of the hat to Hans Conreid, perhaps it was inspired by the movie "5000 Fingers of Dr. T" - he was pretty devilish in that!

I think, Bender's voice ís the best. Especially when he speaks emotionally, like "Look at me now! I am a broken robot..."
But Bender is my favourite character, so I just like everything about him more than about any other Futurama character.

Maurice lamarche is my fave voice actor, some of his best voices include: waltz, Morbo, calculon and donbot!

oh and i'm not sure but i think he does the voice of the guy in anthology of interest, the one who says "YOU WATCHED IT YOU CAN'T UNWATCH IT" but not sure on that.  still awesome though.

and of course tress macneil as mom, she's prob my second fave voice

I actually like Fry's voice. Yes, yes, it's just Billy West's natural voice pitched a bit higher, but I like it.

I love David Herman's various voices. I've learned to pick him out for the most part, but sometimes I'll listen to the commentary and hear someone say that he did a voice I couldn't tell he did. [Zoidberg] He's so talented! [/Zoidberg]

As far as favorite of all, though...I'd probably have to go with the Professor. If I had a decent reason I'd say why, but I'm drawing a blank so I have to pull the old "I just do" card on this one.
