Whoever has locking powers needs to do so so we can make a new thread!

Do we even need a shipping thread anymore? What's the point, with the series over?

The series may be over, but it will live in our hearts forever.

You realise that comment could apply to every single on-topic thread, right?

Oh hi Beanoz. Haven't seen you for a while.

And I'm sure there'll be enough ship discussion to justify a new thread. I'm pretty sure the shipping thread series lived through the first cancellation.

But threads like "Favourite episode" or "Least favourite episode" can still apply even with the series over. This thread seems to be dedicated purely to discussing shippy moments in recent episodes or predicting whether there will be shippy moments in upcoming episodes. You can't do that anymore.

Upcoming episodes, no, but discussing moments in the episodes we have, yes. The series may be over, but there might be new PEELers who have discovered the show for the first time, are somehow moved by the various established shippy moments, and wish to discuss them in just this sort of thread. Also, as can be seen by the posts that are already in this thread and others before it, there is no end to people still being moved by the show's shippy moments, nor is there end to people debating, for example, whether the shippy moments of Fry and Leela in particular are sweet and convincing or forced and troubling (are they clearly in love and meant for each other in the most squee-worthy way imaginable, or are Fry's gestures of love just overdramatic and overemotional gestures to a callous and uncaring Leela?). With no new episodes, the same moments and arguments may be brought up again and again, but clearly there are people who care enough to want to discuss it, and it seems like a perfectly worthy thread topic for a show that definitely has running threads of its own--romantic ones, that is.

Also, this:
And I'm sure there'll be enough ship discussion to justify a new thread. I'm pretty sure the shipping thread series lived through the first cancellation.

Fanfic can never be cancelled, except in our hearts.
