In this week's episode, the warden from Cookieville Minimum Security Orphanarium was NOT David Herman.  Last week Hedonismbot was NOT David Herman.  What's up?  Did David Herman quit or did they fire him?

How can you be so sure that it wasn't him?

DannyJC13,
How can you be so sure that it wasn't him?

Have you heard the Warden's voice?  Every one of David Herman's voices sounded like the Cookieville Orphanarium's Warden's voice.  If that's David Herman, he's just not trying.

I'm pretty sure that was David Herman as the Orphanarium, although I admit, he did sound different -almost as if he'd picked up a slight Irish accent.

And you're damn right that David Herman didn't voice Hedonismbot. Hedonismbot has always been voiced by Maurice LaMarche.

David Herman has been in this run of episodes plenty of times, he's not going anywhere. Scruffy appeared in the first 4 episodes, for example.

Hedonismbot sounds TERRIBLE - not like the original at all.  I can see forgetting how you voiced a character but why not go back and listen to how you did them in 2001?  I have DVDs, I think David X. Cohen would let them listen to themselves using his DVDs.

David Herman's characters do NOT sound like they are being voiced by David Herman.  I think they fired him and John Dimaggio is trying to fill in...

David Herman died and they buried him in space.  Scruffy is playing, "I'm Walking On Sunshine" on bagpipes, as the coffin is blasted into space.

Are you serious? Warden Vogel sounded different but he was quite obviously voiced by David Herman.

Okay, this took me a while, and I wanted to do it before posting in this thread. I've listened to every HedonismBot appearance in the new run, and compared it to the movies. I then listened to his appearances in Season 4. Just a few clips altogether. They're not vastly different. In fact, if anything HedonismBot's fisrt appearance sounds exactly the same as his most recent, with the slight variations occuring in between.

I'd suggest listening to HedonismBot in BBS, purchasing doomsday devices from Farnsworth first, then going to his short clip on the news in TLPJF. Those are the clips with the widest variation, IMO. He still sounds the same though. It's recognisably the same character's voice.

If you can grab the audio from all his appearances and string the soundbytes together chronologically, one after the other (I lack the tools for that at this moment in time or I'd do it for you), I think you'll be able to see what I'm talking about. Try listening to the clips with your eyes closed, so you're just concentrating on the audio.

The voice has evolved a little, but so have all of them. Listen to DiMaggio's Bender in the pilot, for example, then listen to him in APTR. There's a lot of difference there, but it's still recognisably the same character's voice.

The voices evolve as the artists revisit them. It can be seen in most long-running animated programmes. A good example would be the way Eric Cartman's voice has changed slightly in South Park since season one.

Except David Herman never voiced Hedonismbot  :hmpf:
In fact, I'll list the characters he's voiced this broadcast season, just to prove that you're wrong.

The Silence of the Clamps: Randal Poopenmeyer
Law and Oracle: Pickles, Roberto, Scruffy, Terry
Benderama: Scruffy
Ghost in the Machines: Ben Beeler, Scruffy, Randal Poopenmeyer
Neutopia: Scruffy, Rock alien
Lo Leela Leela: Warden Vogel

I watch the original series on my DVD player, which is connected to my surround sound equipment.  The voices sound different coming from those little speakers in my television.

I have not purchased any of the new series DVDs yet.  Maybe when I do, I will see that the voices have not changed - that it was just my lame television.

But all of Billy West's characters sound right.  My television didn't mess his voice up.
