I know this is kind of a stupid question, but everytime in the cartoon and comics when Fry takes off his shoes, he's always barefoot.  Doesn't he ever wear socks?  Same with some other characters as well.  Like at the end of BWABB, it even showed Amy not wear any.

Anyone else noticed this?

Good spotting, my answer is I don't know. Maybe socks are aren't in the future let alone Futurama?

Edit on a edit: 'Fry did say something about socks in "Into the wild green yonder"? So he must wear them?

Edit.

Quote
Fry: Why'd you bonk me, you idiot? You could have just asked me to come with you. And where are we? This doesn't look like your regular dumpster.

Nine: All in good time! I guess now is a good time. We're on Mars, in a forgotten cavern abandoned by the native Martians a million years ago.

Fry: Actually, it was five years ago. I remember 'cause they washed my socks.

I'm pretty sure Fry is wearing socks while in his apartment in "A Fishful of Dollars."

His younger self mentions keeping money in his sock in "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles."

He actually keeps his retirement fund in one of his socks in "Insane in the Mainframe" - I imagine the case is that Fry *does* usually wear socks.

You get the impression that Leela doesn't though - although in "Love Labours Lost" I can't remember if she's wearing any as she's trying to sneak away from Zapp's bed.

I can not say I have ever given this much thought. I would not want to live in a sockless world.

Maybe in the future shoes have ventilation systems in them. Leela only gets boot rash because she is a mutant. And she likes the smell of her own stink, all mutants do.

I think I want some combat boots, so I can get my very own case of boot rash. Go with the mutant philosophy.

Leela wears socks. Her boots are just too big to see them.

Evidently Fry either wears high tops or short socks.

Great picture. I think you can see the socks though. They stick out just above the shoes.

Isn't Fry wearing socks when he reaches for his retirement fund and his bill says "A penny saved is a penny earned!" Yeah someone referenced that earlier ^

Or maybe the socks are built into the shoes? Just wash the shoes.
