The only part of that which is a subversion of the norm is Leela not being able to beat Leo Wong in a fight. Though I'd say if the fight went on longer she'd have stapled his arse to his face.

I wondered if it was because he's a (martian) asian and so he's stereotypically good at martial arts... I mean Leo and Inez are presented as pretty stereotypical asians throughout the series, right? "I know they Martians, they no use good grammar."

They live in a weaker gravity well. Their muscles would be underdeveloped. And none of the Wongs has ever demonstrated knowledge of martial arts.

How about a butterfly among me? No one ever suspects the butterfly.

IN Winny the Pooh its always the damn butterfly, poor Eeyore builds a house and a butterfly lands on it. DOWN IT GOES. Don't ever trust the butterfly. Anything that comes out of a cocoon is evil.

Imagine how weak Leela had to be after letting the leech feed off her for the entire movie.
Even her super-mutant metabolism can't replenish her blood supply and strength as rapidly as the muck leech could take it from her.
Ergo, the little psychopath, Leo Wong, along with having the strength of a power-hungry psycopath, could easily overpower the leech-weakened Leela.

I knew something was wrong whenever Leo triumphed over Leela in the final scenes of "Into the Wild Green Yonder", but just never blamed it on the muck leech. This may come off as "off", but Leela reminded me of Jenny from "Forrest Gump" in "Into the Wild Green Yonder". Both of them ran off to join some hippie protest group, both have an epic love-story, and eventually both were physically weakened from their shenanigans (at least Leela probably won't die from AIDS). Leela enters the hover-van for the Feministas just as Jenny enters the van for the anti-war protest group. By the way, best wishes out to Kelly. I don't know her, but it's the thought that counts. She'll be on my mind.
